Re: Encore Hiring

Only 7 flights canceled yesterday in YYC due to lack of crew. What's the average, about 5 per day? If people stop going and the keep CXing, then hopefully the wages raise to a respectful level. That's my definition of success - be properly paid for the job you do......

I like the paint job, but can not believe that they invited media from all over the country for some "huge" announcement then just showed them a painted airplane. I hope none of them fell for this blatant attempt for free advertisement.

Re: WJ pilots reject tentative agreement

The executive for the WPPA is locked out of the site. They may not use the tools of the WJPA for their own campaign and agenda. Whoa, that is a slippery slope, what ever happened to freedom of speech? I may not like what you have to say but I will defend your right to say it. And skyhigh, this is v...

Re: Chorus Aviation wins long-running rate dispute with AC

As for the RFP, what exactly is an RFP? It is a Request For Proposal. Say that slowly. It isn't a contract. Basically it is asking a bunch of airlines how much it would cost them to do certain flying. Not a Sky Regional which isn't actually an airline, but companies with similar structures to Jazz h...

Re: Chorus Aviation wins long-running rate dispute with AC

Nobody who post on this board has actually seen the CPA. No ALPA pilot has seen the entire CPA, No ACPA pilot has seen the entire CPA, they have only been privy to the parts which directly affect their part of the operation. Abit of a conflict of interest on the companies part by allowing the pilots...

Re: Form letter to the Jazz MEC

I have often wondered why the companies - Air Canada, Westjet, etc - are not doing more to combat foreign pilots. As for a pilots perspective, wouldn't the best, most efficient, cost effective and long term solution be to add our support to the College of Professional Pilots? With a College, no pilo...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

I would also like to ask about certain parts of their financial statements. Like every airline, they seem to have a different way of interpreting their financial data and, as with every airline, it is sometimes hard to read into. But when I have spent sometime trying to dissect them, I wonder why it...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

"So quiet that you missed the part of the announcement they are ordering 10 B738s to replace the 10 being sold to WN. No aircraft are sitting in the desert." Actually didn't miss that. It was for 2015 I believe. 1 to 2 years away, and was that on top of the other aircraft ordered in those years or a...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

The 4th question plays right into the previous. Speaking of flow thru, what are the routes WJ might be looking at to further expand the 737 operation? Encore is flying from YCD, YXJ, and YBR. These will directly compete with WJ routes out of YQQ, YQU, and YWG - definitely not Porter and minimally wi...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

Thanks for answering the question bede, I will ignore the personal attacks and try to keep this geared towards a healthy discussion. I am, after all, just asking questions which I obviously don't have the answers too. Question #3 - How is flow thru going to work exactly? It has been a year and a hal...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

The second question would be - how do you propose to realize $100 000 000.00 in savings? You can't go after the CSA's and ground handlers - well you could but the savings wouldn't be really significant. Speaking of that, I highly doubt that you will realize $30 000 000.00 in savings by going to a 1/...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

Thank you wjhr, and to be fair my initial comments were meant to point out the work that ALPA had done and is continuing to do which has directly and indirectly benefited WJ pilots in the past and will do so again in the future. It wasn't really intended to belittle the wjpa or question why WJA hasn...

Bede, I am glad you are the highest paid narrow body pilot, and that - despite what else you say - is obviously very important to you. But it is just luck in this industry that gets anyone anywhere, and it is also because of the work of unions that you have the ability to declare that income and enj...

Re: EVIL FLOURISHES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

Easy with the ALPA bashing, WJ pilots should be thanking ALPA for the work they do for Canadian pilots. Why? Westjet pilots are more affected by foreign pilots than any ALPA represented Canadian airlines yet it is ALPA leading the charge in the fight against foreign pilots operating in Canada. What ...

Re: AC arbitrated agreement

You just have to look at what is happening in the US to see the future of regional flying. AC wants 3 or more Tier 2 operators and they will play them off against each other in order to drive to drive down costs. It is a race to the bottom and sadly Jazz will be the COMAIR of 2020, if not earlier. ...

It's funny how all interconnected we all are now. What happens at mainline and Jazz will have an impact on our contract talks over at WJ. I really wish global solution had of worked out, or something, anything to get the groups somewhat aligned. Without all the pilots pulling in the (relatively) sa...

"wowsy wowsy woo woo" - what a great counter argument, how much time did you spend on that last 4 hour leg coming up with that? And if your going to quote directly from Greg's Blog or the Q&A it would be nice if you gave credit where it is due. Don't be accusing other's of being "drunk" when you hav...

Re: 50 Q400 at WJ being farmed out

My 2 cents - which is worth a lot less after the government takes 80% - I think WestJet management seems to be doing this right. They could easily just have decided to do it, but instead went to the employee's for there opinions THEN put it up for a vote. And from what I understand it was all employ...

Let's not forget that any publicly traded company is responsible to it's share holders and therefore the stock price as of right now. Not it's employees, the industry or even the future stock price or future careers of it's employees. I am sure this annoucement is going to be good for the immediate ...
