Re: Military pilot application window?

So what happens if you fail PFT or BFT as on ROTP? Your forces to do 7-9 years in a different trade?

Because were paying the money for a 5th gen fighter, it better be the whole package. Also because nobody knows what the future will hold.

Re: F-35 looking more like white elephant

Im aware, im providing further proof this is the case. And your source to support such a claim is? Im not saying its for sure, but I gave a link about how they do all this complex low observable paint job and im just seeing the problems they had with the F-22 all over again. the raptor spends a sigf...

Re: F-35 looking more like white elephant

You really expect me to say such things, or you're just trolling? I'm pretty sure experienced and talented pilots like Bob Hoover or . Yeager could have jumped in a P38 of P51 and hosed a couple of inexperienced Sabre pilots. "White Force [exercise control] staff would confirm that the threat was R...

Re: F-35 looking more like white elephant

Despite what pierre sprey said, this bird in the A config is rated for 9G's, cant be that bad ! Its sustained turn rate may be another story, very hard to find the flight characteristics so early on.

Re: Seneca vs Western vs waterloo aviation programs?

Believe me, I want to head straight in to aviation at age 21 and never look back, but with the way things are looking, my gut says otherwise. Wateroo, western and seneca are out of the question at this point. Plan 1: graduate highschool with PPl, take a year off to complete cpl, then attend universit...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

Will my "skill" as an aviator be adversely effected because my first job was a turbine FO instead of a FO on an old Navajo, or a Single pilot on a light twin vs a 206? No, it wont. At any of those jobs I would have done my best, learned my plane and safely flown my passengers around. The important ...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

I really don't think so, I think I'm just realistic. everybody is looking for the job that looks good in there resume not necessarily the job that's best for there skills, why should I be singled out for admitting the reality?

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

First off, all flying jobs make you a better pilot and secondly you can't tell me every job you have taken was for your skills only, not for lifestyle or career progression I mean c'mon let's be realistic here. Oh and thanks for editing out my reasoning as an attempt at making me look like an idiot....

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

While i agree 100%, I have talked to many who could care less about their actual skills in comparison to there career progression. While id like to be the best I can be as a pilot, I don't have until I am mid 30s to land a liveable job, and to me, that is in a city wether its calgary, toronto etc I ...

I wanted to go to university because of the experience and what it does for you as a person, but I might have to sacrifice that experience, based on what you guys are saying.

Seneca vs Western vs waterloo aviation programs?

Hey guys, looking for some opinions on the three schools in the title, I was keen on Waterloo, due to the backup plan it provides you with and because I love science, but the courses are very unappealing. I was looking at the careers you can get into besides aviation as backup and they are also very...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

Thanks a lot, yet another thing I wasn't aware of, night rating requirements. Cant thank you all enough, the one great thing the industry still has is great pilots who are great people (for the most part that is). No need to keep em short or anything like that, I read it all start to finish. I have ...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

Yeah I definitely have to agree with you. There is a large hierarchy of progression from instructing. During the couple times I went for an intro I was thinking man if I could do this everyday life would be amazing. It builds some of the best hands and feet aside from way up north, gets you the elus...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

There is no right or wrong way. There are as many ways to get through this career as there are pilots flying. The choices you make have to be right for you, not anyone else. Just try to remember that life is about the journey and the stories that you will be telling your grandchildren one day. The ...

Re: Flight instructing vs Working the ramp. Doesn't add up?

It seems to me that the opportunities for instructor's (even though the first couple of years is spent in the circuit and what is biased to be flying in blue sky conditions) roll about with a bit more confidence than for rampies. As an instructor you are paying your dues for a right seat, most like...
