Agreed!
Some of his antics were defiantly cringe worthy.
But I'd still rather be yelled at by Jim than stabbed in the back by....

Re: PRM+other hat's for $30 a/hr??
If you read the tasks you are going to be doing that pay is not all that bad. Now if they were hiring someone who could actually fix airplanes that would be poor pay. Pushing paper is easier than actually maintaining the airplanes. Exactly! Which is why Directors and Presidents all get paid less th...

Have a poke around this site. My grandfather didn't like to talk about his service either, but he did participate in an interview for this project before he passed.

Re: Leaving aviation
I got into renewables basically by trying to figure out how my current skills/education could be easily transferred to a new industry. wind, solar, etc. is a fairly new industry and there isn't any real trade certification (yet) so I knew I wouldn't have to overcome that hurtle. The funny thing is ...

Yes.
Thank you Grandpa, for your service in the 15 Squadron, RAF, Great Britain, from 1940-1942. You were one of the fortunate to make it back to Canada...
(Fortunately for me...)

Re: Cowboy Antics
There are many stories of heroics from that time. Have you seen this? http://www.thememoryproject.com/ Not long before he passed, my grandfather was one of the interviewees for this project. He was a navigator on a Stirling in WW2. Interestingly, he never spoke of his time in the war to me. The most...

Re: Gear up landing at Vernon BC today
The gear are connected mechanically in the Baron so all go up or down at once. Watch a Baron or Bonanza put the gear up or down and none lag behind like hydraulic gears often do. O.K., understood. There must be a down lock for each gear though, right? So if a lock failed, is the mechanism strong en...

Re: Gear up landing at Vernon BC today
I suspected the Castanet account may have been a little off.
What are the chances of a news outlet getting the facts wrong?
eta:
(what are the chances of all three gear collapsing at the same time after being locked down?)
