Re: TSA fingerprint agencies
I did my prints about 18 months ago. The TSA rep doing fingerprints in Edmonton had just closed up shop a couple weeks earlier. I tried contacting someone in Saskatoon, however I believe they had shut down too. The options available were Toronto, and Montreal. I did mine in Toronto on a layover. For...

Re: Medical Help!! Please
WPW is one of those conditions where in TC's eyes you could just drop dead at any time for no explained reason. They don't want you flying airplanes with this condition so they're not about to give you a medical. You need to be talking to a Cardiologist that TC will defer to, NOT Avcanada in this in...

Hey there, Tube Driver go burn off a little fuel. you're tankering too much gas. Been into/ out of the Muni in Boeings at various weights. You may not be at max but it doesn't mean you can't operate safely at lighter weights.

Re: Great Quotes in Aviation Movies
So while we're discussing the movie one liners, does anyone know the origin of,
"Don't tell mama I'm a pilot. Tell her I'm a piano player in a whore house."?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Nite Owl.

Re: Wood wings
Try getting a hold of Werner Griesbecht over in Langley BC. Ok he's not on the island but it's a short hop to the mainland and he's done lots of wooden wing work over the years.

Re: Hamilton Standard 2D30 question..
There is an issue (sb or sl) with corrosion occurring beneath the Hamilton Standard decals usually placed in the center of the blade backs. All one has to do is clear coat the polished blade where the sticker would go prior to the sticker application, or go without the sticker altogether. Personally...

Re: Whitworth Tools For Sale?
Mine get used a bit but I'd try some of the old British car and motorcycle suppliers. ie. Wise Owl, and Octagon Motors in Vancouver or Motoparts in Edmonton. Think old Series Land Rovers, E type Jaguars, Nortons, BSA's, Triumphs etc. It may not be Snap On, (Snap On and Mac are out of the Whitworth m...

What you have there is a free parts supply!!! You don't know the history any more than you know the history of a cylinder fresh from an overhaul facility. Logs after all go with the case. Should you need a part or parts and the one on your operating engine is shot, then take the one off your parts s...

I suggest a Stinson 108. Cessna 172 performance, 4 seats, great visibility, awesome floatplane, lots of parts and still supported through Univair. The nosewheel is where it belongs too! Be careful of the owner maintenance category. Yes you get to do your own maintenance but come time to sell it, don...

Just about the most fun you can have with your clothes still on. :D My girl and I were sitting in a cafe patio the other evening, when an elderly gent came up to us and said, "nice bikes" (01 Monster and 71 Commando) The old fella rides a Duc 1098 and an R1. Hmmm. TC's inspectors are facing duplication, redundancy, and or replacement here by the Ontario government. They are unionized so put this on their radar screen too. This should bring pressure to bear from inside TC's empire and pit the feds against the province. Make sure your local TC inspector i...

Well the international carriers are limited by the minimum t/o vis on their Jepps. Sometimes this is restrictive on their operations when we can often apply a reduced vis ops spec and go to 600 or 1200RVR and they're limited to 1/2 stat mile. Even though they're in Canada they still have to stick to...

Unfortunately that ...
