Re: Mudders Faudders Restaurant CYYC

Yup, that's where we ended up after we realized our fish & chips craving would go unfulfilled. Oh well...

I ate Wendy and my co-pilot ate Tim for lunch. ;-)

Mudders Faudders Restaurant CYYC

So I was all excited to fly my CEO to Calgary for a day last month. He was busy with meetings all day so my co-pilot and I were excited we'd have to opportunity to enjoy the comfortable pilot's lounge at the Shell FBO as well as some good Newfie fish n' chips for lunch down the road at "Mudders Faud...

Navajo De-Ice Boots

As some of you may know, many Navajo's have de-icing boots on the leading edge of the wings just from the engine nacelle to the wing tip. The leading edge of the wing from the engine nacelle to the fuselage is often unprotected. My question is, does anyone know if this means flight into known icing ...

If you are going to Saskatoon, try Transwest. They sometimes hire lower time guys for the ramp or right seat on a Ho.

Re: Adlair job posting.

It all sounds very good. I'm sure there's a lot of "on call" down time, but what sort of flying hours annually would a pilot in this job aquire in an average year.

So when they say 3 week rotations, does that mean 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out?

Phileas Fogg, To answer your question, you're right I have a flying job and I'm not seeking other employment. The reason I list my flight experience in my title block is because I saw someone else on here doing it and I liked knowing their experience level so I too added my times. Plus I guess at th...

Global pilot shortage a looming crisis in Canada

Why a co-pilot?

I'm wondering why they need a co-pilot for survey work. I fly a Navajo on LIDAR and Mag surveys. The mag surveys are done at 300 - 400' AGL in the mountains sometimes and we operate single crew. No operator or co-pilot. Just one person in the plane, the pilot. Is it perhaps an insurance thing?

Have a look through this link for the Calgary operators. It shows for all of AB, but many are right in Calgary.

ATPL Question

I recently received my ATPL licence from TC. I noticed it said it was valid for: ALL SINGLE PILOT NON-HIGH PERFORMANCE, SINGLE AND MULTI- ENGINE LAND AEROPLANES I'm a little confused here. Is not the purpose of the ATPL to allow you to fly as PIC in an aircraft that requires two crew or more? Anyone...

Application For Flight Crew Permits/Licences

I was filling out my TC application form for the ATPL. In Part D section 1 there is a box that says "TOWED FLIGHT". Any idea what we are supposed to fill in here? I thought maybe it was for glider tows, but section 2 is for gliders, not section 1. Perhaps it's for helo slinging operations, but again...

And it seems everyone who works there for a season or two eventually gets on with Aries (right Roar?). Aries is one of the best survey companies to work for in Canada! Military Life

I'm glad to hear things have obviously changed since I got out in 2003. I remember the attrition rates were quite high in Portage, Moose Jaw and at 410 Sqn Cold Lake. There were a lot of bitter CT'd pilots.

How it is for the military wives

My wife also made the comment that the military lifestyle is hard on pilot spouses too. She suggested that your wife might want to talk to some military pilot wives to get the gouge on what it's like before you both committed to the CF. It's not all bad and it's not all good, but it certainly does p...
