Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?

Thank you very much for all the quick answers! It is super appreciated! How can I have access to compagny policies before hand, business casual is a very broad term, and except the no-jeans one specified in the acceptance email, are there any colour or otherwise restriction to it? Do we get the Ipa...

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours

The -100's are going to YYC to cover the ex-ggn 1900 routes. There is a significant amount of Q400 flying into and out of YHZ. The lack of bid and memo that came out said that they were NOT opening a yhz base. Its a lot of work and cost to do that if its not going to last. I wondered what they were...

Re: Pilot in waiting working the ramp?

A job is a job. No harm in taking this job while still applying for other flying positions at the same time. If no one else calls and you end up flying with this company? Great! If you work the ramp for a month and get a flying position somewhere else? Great! In my opinion it's better to have a job ...

Is it only certain companies that westjet has this restriction for? When I started at Jazz I didn't have AC passes for 6 months so I was commuting only on WestJet, definitely before my LC too and I've never heard of this

Re: New hire bids

So am I reading this right? I work for an ALPA carrier currently but say I come to Jazz in 4 months... I get to bid ahead of anyone in the class who wasn't previously employed by an ALPA carrier? Yes. If you're the only former ALPA member you get first pick of equipment/base. I can't remember what ...

Just wondering when this 60% class component of Express candidates for AC PIT course takes effect? The July 22nd class was all OTS, so clearly not yet. Just curious. Thanks.
It's 60% annually as far as I know. So they're allowed to do some classes that are all OTS

Re: New hire bids

To be fair, at least AC gives you a few days to figure it out and talk it over with the ones who it’ll affect. Jazz was just a simple “you got 24 hours good luck”, which to me was unexpected. Isn’t the equipment draw at AC day 3? Compared to day 2 at Jazz. And you have lots of time to talk it over ...

Re: New hire bids

How can a company expect you to take a job where you don't find out your base until after the first day of training. That is sketch. You know the bases before you even apply and you know there's a risk of not getting what you want. Don't apply if that's sketch. That's a question they ask in the int...

6-8 months really isn't that much of a wait in the grand scheme of things. Wait it out until you have enough time for your A's then start applying around

Re: DOH merge.

WRONG. A seniority merger will happen. No Air Canada Express operator flys aircraft with more than 75 seats, and one will NOT be set up that does. Its crazy to think for even a second that there will be another airline with a separate pilot list flying around in large jets owned by AC. The Contract...

For those wondering, the latest class had: 4 YYZ RJ 2 YYC Q 8 YVR Q Morning All. Just curious as to how the bidding works. I know you get your seniority at initial hire based on either the random draw or ALPA status. Once you get that assigned, are you able to bid on the Location/Aircraft preferred...

get your ATPL PIC requirement before applying to a 705 operation.
I have all the required time, except total time.
How much total time do you have right now? The website says they want 750

ATPL logbook question

I'm writing my exams shortly. I have pretty much the bare minimum PIC time for the ATPL but lots of FO time in 703 and 705 machines. One of the requirements is an additional 100 pic x-country or 200 copilot x-country. I have over 2000 hours copilot x-country but no column in my logbook for that; my ...

I think everyone is getting worked up over nothing. I don't think they will merge the company. At least not with Mainline. Maybe with Rouge but that was a risk they took when they left Mainline for Rouge so they can not cry foul too much about that. They can't. Why do you people keep saying it? htt...
