Re: Northern Thunderbird Air
Agreed, everyone's opinion will be different. Once again I strongly disagree. To answer your question, yes I used to work there. The pilot group are great folk, save one or two who have hopefully moved on to something else. Mostly, and I know I'm not alone here, it's a person behind one desk in Vanc...

Re: BN2 Islander
The POH is an awkward read. Good luck. As for tricks, when you're really heavy...operating in the upgross mod range or beyond (6300lbs-6600lbs+ MTOW range) you can get an extra 5 knots if you lower the flaps in flight and pull the CB around 3-5 degrees flaps. This will freeze the flaps at that setti...

I agree with Doc. Whenever I've got a headache, I take a couple and don't give it a second thought. Do you ever take pain killers and go drive your car? Same diff.

Porter Interview.
Maybe this is a no-brainer, but should I be wearing a suit to the interview or would business casual be ok? I've got plenty of ties however the cash to buy a suit is not there.
Suggestions?

Re: Set Cruise Power?
Another issue would be when you're pushing gross at high alts while picking up bags of ice. It can be difficult to maintain the min icing speed. I usually wait a good minute or two to get well above this speed. If cruise is set too early the aircraft might not accelerate in cruise. Then your stuck h...

Fuel costs should be going down. As of yesterday, $122/barrel...the lowest in nearly two months.

Re: Islander Question
Another good tip to keep the noise down for Pax comfort is using a reduced prop setting during TO and climb out while still at max MP. It's listed in the confusing Brit. AFM though I cannot remember which section as it's been a couple years since I've flown a BN2. Oh, and if you use the pilot door f...

Good point Sasquash! Working with someone you are dating is rarely a good idea. Often there are work related duties that are missed due to distraction, be it simply conversation, arguing or even physical contact. If the relationship fails, then you have an awkward situation for many people, includin...

Re: Logbook Question
flying4dollars has the right idea. I've been doing it that way for a couple years. Separate entires are far too time consuming esp for short hops and they burn-through the pages way too fast.
As long as you're not switching tails or crew, one entry per day works great.

It was a three-panel interview with two CPs and someone from HR. They asked me to talk about my aviation career. Then they asked why I left various jobs over the years. After that, they asked what I knew about GGN, which was basically whatever was listed on the website. It was fairly straight forwar...

Well said Mike. Well said. Seriously. And people wonder why mai...

Re: Unsafe ILS in Prince George......
Ouch that's not good. I'd be chocked for sure. Wonder why they did that with all the construction going on. Maybe they thought the g/s shack was far enough away that it wouldn't be affected. The g/s errors probably had a lot to do with it being off-line last month as the temperatures changed rather ...

You might also be able to list it under moving expenses. If you weren't moving to a new job, the invoice wouldn't exist. It's like breaking your lease agreement with a landlord...sorta. :} Be sure to have a paper trail if you get audited. That's a lot of cheddar to have to pay back if you're reasses...
