Re: Robinson Helicopter Rentals
Not funny. As the only helicopter rental business in Canada, I hope that you'll overcome this and keep going. Had a similar offering existed near my place, I wouldn't have felt the need to buy my own ship.

Re: Night VFR rule changes
Thanks, I get it that without ATC, IFR traffic separation relies on advisory, not mandatory, air-to-air broadcasts, correct?

Re: Night VFR rule changes
No radar and no VHF doesn't mean no ATC, you are supposed to at least report yourself on HF. I'm not sure "uncontrolled IFR" is legal on Earth.

Re: United Airlines hiring goals
However, for as long as being an airline pilot is a well paid and respected job, I would like my daughter to have the same access to it as a career as my son; without the extra hurdle of being the only woman in her ground school class, the only woman on the type rating course, and the only worman i...

Chartering is not flying.
Is there a place in Canada where I can rent a helicopter, go somewhere, spend a few hours or the night, and come back at night or the next day?

Re: Pilot Weight?

Re: Business opportunities for new heli-pilot who owns a cop
You'll need an Air Operator Certificate to operate commercially. You'll need 500 hours PIC time in helicopters after your commercial license (that means around 650-700 hours TT) before you can apply for one. In the mean time, you will easily find an established operator which will be more than happy...

Funny, I come from software development too... While the aviation industry is harsh, I have no regrets from the IT industry!

Re: Discovering helicopters in your 40s - late to the party?
Hello, my first post in AvCanada too. It's feasible. One guy I know just started such a second career in his 40's. He spent huge amounts of cash, then he worked hard in the company for little money, but he managed to become indispensable : hangar rat, administrative tasks, ground instructor... Then ...
