Re: Expectations for Roadtrip?
Sorry, didn't mean to derail the topic. In this industry I wouldn't EXPECT anything. I went from 200 hrs straight to a major airline but I don't think that happens often. I know people who were flying 172's for their first few years. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and with any luck you'll...

Re: Expectations for Roadtrip?
Half the people I knew have dropped out of the industry...largely in the last couple years. Yep. Ive been in the industry almost 20 years and have watched it deteriorate into what you see today. Few jobs, horrible pay, and companies that treat you like you're disposable (cause you are). Sad really.

Re: Road Trip Attire
Kenny, dress for the position. For most: 702-703 bush ops in most cases jeans and work boots are fine 703 non-bush ops business casual 704 Business casual is usually fine, but some places a tie may be more suitable Research the places you are going, see what kind of flying and clientele they cater ...

Re: Road Trip Attire
I think I can help. The basics are to remember you are a Canadian , and thus must show respect for everyone and everything , and offend absolutely no one. You did not mention if you were male, female, or an associated subspecies, but it does not matter , as it is all about respect. Head. Either a h...

Road Trip Attire
Hi folks, Im planning a road trip targeting mainly 703 and maybe some 704 operators. I'm wondering what's the most appropriate attire for such an occasion? I'll be spending much time in cars and airplanes, so the more casual (comfortable) I can be, the better. Thanks in advance for your sharing your...

Re: How to explain you were fired?
You can be fired because your medical gets temporarily suspended through no fault of your own?? Scary! Isn't that what disability leave is for? I've had plenty of injuries where I couldn't work. I've never worried about being fired for it. We're human therefore susceptible to injuries. You don't sc...

Re: How to explain you were fired?
Like JAH said, consider a better way of phrasing the conversation. "While working at Company X, I was involved in a serious car accident that was not my fault. Due to the extent of my injuries my Medical was suspended, and because I could not work, the company had to let me go. Fortunately I made a...

Re: How to explain you were fired?
Was your motor vehicle accident alcohol related? If it was just a regular car accident and not a result of alcohol or extreme speed I would imagine every company would be fine with explaining how you got fired. Now if it was a result of bad choices if you can show that you have grown up / changed a...

Re: How to explain you were fired?
Maybe I am naive or am missing something, but why can't you just say that? You were injured, couldn't hold a medical and therefore couldn't perform the duties of your job. If your former employer would back that statement I can't see how it hurts you, unless there is something otherwise sinister li...

How to explain you were fired?
A few years ago I was the victim of a motor vehicle accident. Due to my injuries my medical was temporarily suspended, and as a result I was fired from my job. Obviously this is not something I would not want to discuss in an interview for a new job, but I'm not one to tell lies either as I believe ...

Re: Where are the low-time jobs these days?
Your relief pilot time counts towards TT doesn't it? I've been told it doesn't. If it does I'd still only be around the 1000 hr mark. Either way, despite the fact that I'm proficient with EFIS, FMS, TCAS, RADAR etc, and complex jet aircraft in general, it doesn't negate the fact that I'm still a lo...

Where are the low-time jobs these days?
Hi folks! I need 1000 hrs multi in order to qualify for my 'dream job'. After 3 years of flying 172's for the same company, I'm a little out of touch with how the job market is doing these days. I have 500 tt, 350 pic, a valid group 1 IFR, plus a bunch of time as cruise relief on a wide body. I only...

Re: Upgrade from a 727 SO..
I have several friends who went the SO route, all with various companies, and feel that an SO position CAN be an excellent career move for a low timer, provided it’s with a good company. Rapid advancement can and does happen if you’re in the right place at the right time. For others, it can take yea...

Re: Kelowna flightcraft questions
Even if I could, I wouldnt. Personally you can think whatever you want. Just trying to protect other pilots from ending up at a lousy company. C'mon, speak your mind. I cant imagine why anybody would make up a bunch of b.s. like this for no reason. I know people who work there as well as some forme...
