Re: PA31-350 Chieftain POH
A little further digging on the aircraft I will be flying... it is a Chieftain built by Embraer. EMB820C S/N 820127 And chances are, I will be also on a regular Navajo, C/N 31-687. If anyone could help out, it would be much appreciated. Already read a lot of the tips on flying these things on here a...

Re: PA31-350 Chieftain POH
Heya, bumping this thread up again.
Anyone have a copy of the -350 manual around? I can't seem to find one on the net.
Yes, I am aware of the differences between serial numbers. Just looking for a general PoH.
Cheers!

Boss uses them in a C208B.
Said they are great, but they have a weird whistle when the overhead vents are open and blowing down over the set.

Thanks for that link, I had the flight safety one but was looking for an actual POH. Found one through a friend in the states, so if anyone wants a PDF version of one, will gladly help help.
Cheers!

Re: Gogal accident report
As Illya pointed out before. That level of ice build up doesn't form from flying in clear blue sky. They were IMC at some point. @PDW, you are asking why this accident occurred this time and not the last few hundred times that the plane departed like this? Simple. The holes in the swiss cheese lined...

Re: When will the madness stop?
Its all about priorities. I'm 27 now with approaching 3500hrs. Its enough for regionals easily, but like being said, the pay is crap. I'm now earning $72,000 USD AFTER tax, with accommodation and food paid for. I work a 40/20 roster so loads of time off. Aircraft I am flying? A C208B EX. Whether it ...

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I am in the same boat as the above. Would love a PDF version of an actual PoH purely for personal and non flying use.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Wanted - Twin block time
Hi there, Hopefully someone would be able to help me here. I am looking to hire a large chunk of block time on a twin in Canada. The cost of hiring a twin in NZ through normal channels is alarmingly high. Keep getting knocked back on jobs that I should be able to do due to insurance requirements or ...

Twin hire, Block hours.
Hi there, Hopefully someone would be able to help me here. The cost of hiring a twin back home is alarmingly high. Keep getting knocked back on jobs that I should be able to do due to insurance requirements or just HR required twin time. I hold a TC CPL which I will need to get current. I have aroun...

Re: Temporary foreign pilots in 2013
Actually GRK, that is no longer the case in many of these countries. The only way for foreign pilots who want to come into Canada with no previous experience working there is via an LMO. There is no way to tell the difference between someone who wants to live in Canada for the rest of their lives, o...

Re: Canadian pilot feared dead in Guyana crash
Just having a quick read through that article that was posted. Single pilot with 1000lbs of fuel and 7 drums of diesel is around MTOW with the Payload extender mods. If there is a second person and the fuel load it will be overloaded but this is irrelevant if the load shifted. I doubt that the load ...

Re: Medical Certificate Processing Fees
Just be glad that you aren't in New Zealand. My last medical there cost over $700. And that was just a renewal with none of the stuff like ECGs, Audiograms or chest xrays.
They whacked on a $350 fee a year or so ago, and you have to pay this BEFORE you can get your medical.

Re: Caravan Type Rating/Training
Thanks mate, It doesn't have to be sim training. Even in van training is fine. $1000 an hr, which is the usual going rate, for 5hrs (Or whatever the min required is) is still cheaper than going down to Pan Am which from memory was $8k, plus flights, accommodation, food and transport while down there...

Re: Caravan Type Rating/Training
Thank you for all the helpful replies guys. So from what I have gleened from this information after weeding out the typical avcanada BS and egos, is that you can in fact get a type rating put onto your licence in Canada? Is there a minimum hour requirement with this? The purpose for this once again ...

Re: How do you log this?
I just spent a few minutes looking at the second picture. I kept seeing a bus coming down the hill with its front windscreen covered with black duct tape.
Thought maybe that could have been logged as actual IFR.

Might be a good idea for me to check with the DGCA then on what they will accept before forking out any cash! I might be in that country, but not with that company! New Start up one. Have three vans, 1 of them is a Legacy C208B, the other two are the EX models. Have 7 more EX's on the way this year ...

Caravan Type Rating/Training
Hi guys, I have a friend who's just finishing up their training in Canada. I'm working overseas and can probably set them up with a job but they need to have a Caravan rating on their licence for a validation. This is a requirement and no way around it. My first question is, is there anyone in Canad...

Re: Canadian CPL to NZ/Aus CPL
Air NZ won't take you on a working holiday visa. They want indefinite residency. Other flying work in NZ is pretty hard to get hold of with the type of stuff you will be after. You should be able to get a parachute drop or something like that. Australia will probably be a lot different, a lot more a...

The bit that blew my mind. Look at where he came down. That was just dumb luck that he came down in a field. Could have ended up in a building and the story could be completely different.

Cat Driver, thanks for point out that when a single quits, we have no engine. But what is the TRUE single engine service ceiling on a light turboprop when it is MAUW on a hot summers day? I bet it is below the mountain tops in a lot of those areas. You are just as likely to get into trouble with tha...

When I got my Canadian licence. I had a whole bunch of flying that was done overseas, with no certification. Re: Orca 208s?
A caravan can comfortably climb to 16,000 with a decent load. So whats the issue? Even a few twin turbines with an engine out and a full load will find themselves in trouble over those ranges.

On a side note, and I don't want to cause a thread drift here, but is that exhaust mod normal?
