Re: More layoffs coming!

I suspect the new layoffs come with a reduced schedule due to the Air Canada grievance being settled. 35% max flyable hours by the regionals carriers and AC is planning on flying the 220 lots this summer Any reference for this? Excuse my ignorance but I cannot find where this was decided upon. Than...

Re: Union at Sky

A friend there sent me this. It was sent in an email to the whole pilot group. It looks like things are heating up at SR. Dear Fellow Pilots: I want to say first of all that I was not asked by Management to send this email, and the truth is that 20 minutes ago I told Rodney I was sending it just to ...

Re: YYZ issues

Perhaps you have to look at where you are flying and the time of day? The temperatures have been colder this year, and for longer periods, than years past. This is causing issues with the ramp staff and fuelling providers. They have required warm up breaks during colder temperatures. If you are flyi...

Re: PC-12 Synthetic Vision Incident

Faced with the dominance of the visual scene from the SVS during a high-workload phase, the pilot reacted by pulling the yoke back and climbing steeply. The ATSB said no warnings or cautions were displayed regarding the failed radar altimeter, and the crew did not receive any oral alerts from the ai...

Re: QC25 Harmony uflymike

I received mine about 6 weeks ago and really like it! Granted, in those 6 weeks I have only flown about 35 hours. I was using a Bose X and find the QC25's much more comfortable and with better ANR. The only thing that I have noticed (ATC has as well) is that, sometimes, there is a tin can sounding q...

Does anyone have any information on number of days working per month, salary and overall conditions? Specifically for their King Air 200, if possible?

Thanks

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Since graduating from the Soo in 2009, he's the second member of his class to perish in an accident (recall the FO from the Bearskin crash a few years back outside of Pickle). Do you mean the Red Lake crash? IIRC that crash also had something to do with icing and an engine failure? Maybe it's about...

Re: Cameron Air Caravan - CYTZ

Partial deployment of landing gear, visually confirmed (air to air). The decision made was absolutely the correct one!! Good job by the pilot and the YTZ ARFF for spraying down the impromptu runway.

Now everyone resume their computer chair speculation.

Red lights in the night sky Sept. 8

Don't get me wrong, I am probably among the biggest skeptics when it comes to encounters with other forms of life, but tonight in Milton, ON I saw 8-10 red lights under some form of controlled flight move about and form up. I cannot find any notams to prove that I am not going insane, does anyone kn...

I was flying up to the Parry Sound area today and saw/heard a search and rescue C130 searching the Pointe au Baril area for this reg.

Anyone know anything more the the aircraft registration search cannot tell me? Hopefully everyone is safe!

Re: Is Niagara Air Tours still open?

It may have had something to do with them sending a Cessna 206 for the Pelee Island winter contract?!

They were supposed to have a Caravan, but I guess it did not make it onto their OC on time?

Re: Oakley Juliets

I love my pair, have had them for about a year and a half now and have no complaints using them with my Bose headset. They work great for float flying too if you put the bigger arm gaskets in to make the arms extend a lesser distance, you don't lose them in the water that way! They would sink to the...

Compression question

Hey all, a little unfamiliar with the compression ratings for normally aspirated piston engines. I have seen lots of numbers in the 70's written on the cylinder heads, but I don't know what the maximum is or how it is calculated. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
