Re: YVR Training Offers

Congrats!

I'm a bit confused when you say 'standby' offer... I thought if you were in the pool and got selected for a training position, then it was a 'training offer'? I didn't know they had 'standby' offers?

Was this VFR/IFR or FSS?

In any case, good luck!

Re: Streamed FIC

Thanks for the reply Lisa, If you've been streamed FIC, does that not mean you'd based in Kamloops? I thought FIC = 'Flight Service Specialist - Kamloops' and AAS was 'Flight Service Specialist AAS'? So you'll be staying in Kamloops for OJI and from then on or no? I've been streamed VFR, but was tol...

Re: Streamed FIC

Hey Lisa,
when do you find out whether you're AAS or FIC? Do they tell you in the initial offer or do you get told later in training?
If you're Airport Advisory, do they tell you where you'll be placed or is that a 'wait and see' thing?
Good luck in training!

Harv's Air - Instructor Rating & employment

Afternoon all,

looking to chat with someone that completed their Instructor Rating and subsequently worked as an instructor at Harv's Air in Manitoba. I'm considering some options and would love to have a few questions answered, feel free to PM me.

Thanks in advance!

Re: YVR phone interview

Hey WoS, I've attached a screenshot of my Nav Canada page, other than a green light and saying what stream I've been placed in, I've heard nothing. No mention of waitlist or my position in the pool. I guess I just wait to hear further updates! Hey Lisa, Has my in-person interview Feb 10th, got green...

Re: YVR phone interview

Good luck to everyone going through the process! I got the green light after my in-person interview on February 22nd and have streamed VFR. Was REALLY hoping to hear something about a course this Fall, but looks like it's not to be if the courses might be already full? guess I didn't score high enou...

Re: Training Course Offers

Thanks for the reply!

That's good to know, I understand there's no guarantees, but what if you turn down the FSS offer, because you're holding out for a VFR offer?

Does the fact that you turned down FSS mean they can't/won't offer you VFR?

Training Course Offers

Afternoon all, If you get the green light and are streamed VFR, but then offered a FSS training course, are you able to decline the FSS course with hopes of receiving a VFR training course later? Or if you say, "No thanks" to the FSS course, is that it? Game over? I was wondering if they're likely t...

Re: YVR FIR

It didn't go too well unfortunately.... I wasn't feeling my best (head cold), but that's not an excuse. I'm not the best at interviews to start with, and I think nerves got the better of me. Now I'm just waiting for the final confirmation that I messed it-up (the dreaded red light). Have to wait and...

Quick up-date for anyone interested, I just received the email inviting me to the in-person interview. Booked for this Saturday.

Nervous but excited, and currently reading as much as I can to prepare!

Best of luck all!

Re: YVR FIR

No problem, I did the online assessment April 11th. I was invited to the in-person assessment session in June (the 13th). Got my results from that on June 21st. Phone interview was done July 6th.

YVR FIR

Afternoon folks, I recently got the green light following my phone interview and am now (impatiently) waiting for an in-person interview call. I know the website states it could be 18 months during which time my application may expire, but I'm wondering (and hoping) someone here may be able to tell ...
