Re: Crohns and Colitis
Remicaid and Imuran, never an issue. I've had colitis as long as I've been flying. Best thing you can do is manage your diet. I can't even so much as stare at processed carbs without feeling like crap, and living in the washroom. Pasta, lots of bread, etc. Had a few hard times with employers about. ...

Re: Demand for float drivers 2017?
Being a farm kid, and working as a mechanic before I started flying is the sole reason I was hired for all my float jobs. We can all fly the plane, but in the float world the flying is only about 25% of the work, if that. That being said, since I started 4 years ago I have NEVER seen so many help wa...

Expect to be shut down. A lot. Don't get discouraged. And remember it's always okay to leave a genuinely sh**ty operator should you get hired by one.

Re: Lac Seul Dockhand job
They offered me a job last spring, and I really wanted to take it. Just wasn't in a position where I could work for the $2000 a month salary they offered. I ended up going to another operator, the pay was much better but it was awful place to work. I ended up tearing my MCL after slipping carrying a...

Re: How is it Out There?
Have a few prospects, only one solid offer. It was a particular dockhand job for an operator in Red Lake. It's been posted on here three times now, in the last two weeks. The pay is a joke. Guess they're hoping to find someone desperate at the last minute.

Re: Chance of getting hired with a tattoo?
I have the outline of the Avro Arrow on my right forearm, more often it's sparked conversation instead of discrimination. I have the Canadian flag on my right bicep, I wouldn't want to work for someone who looked down at that. My others are on my back where no employer or client would ever see so it...

Don't come to Wawa. Seriously. One, there's nothing to see or do. Two, it's always always always foggy lately, there is a very good chance of getting stuck. My 300NM, I followed the St. Lawrence from Lake Ontario to Trois Rivieres. Then from TR, across to Ottawa, then a straight line back to Colling...

I got an email from Excellent Adventures in Red Lake yesterday, they need a Cessna pilot. I already have my spot for the season but I thought I'd pass it along.

Re: Commercial Written , We meet again
I flunked Nav my first time around. NDB/ADF stuff just sent me for a loop, and for whatever reason my exam was incredibly NDB heavy. Studied more, flew a few exercises with the stupid things. Went and rewrote my exam and had 2 NDB questions. So goes life.

Re: Pilot in Waiting?
To the guy who kind of spazzed there. I didn't buy a type rating. I did however spend the last two years "dispatching" and doing the PRM duties for the flight school I did my license with, while working on my CPL which I only finished in November. I also have farming and a couple trades in my backgr...

Re: Pilot in Waiting?
I'm a 200hr wonder. Was offered a ramp position. The contract specifically mentioned keeping the bathrooms and parking lot clean. I'm a pilot, not a janitor. Turned it down as soon as I cooled down enough to turn it down politely. Three days later I was offered a flying job. Problem solved. Was actu...

Last spring I saw all the ads and couldn't wait for this spring. PPL then, CPL now. But this year, it's not so hot. Sure as hell isn't stopping me from doing my road trip though. I'm thinking this brutal winter has more to do with it than anything. It's just hanging on.

My ideal flying job? Piston Beaver, rich clients.
Winter time, freight, at night. Don't care what I fly, just like flying/working at night.

I just typed out a mile long essay like response. But I felt like I was banging my head against a wall. I'm incredibly happy with my Jetta, as are multiple family members who drive TDI's. They've all proven to be problem free, incredibly efficient and economical. Even though they're made in Mexico (...

Re: Collective Wisdom
Funny. I do everything I can, to avoid buying overpriced "genuine" dealer parts. I won't buy a vehicle if there are no 3rd party parts available. Lots and lots of parts available, I just prefer German made to China crap. But hey what do I know? I only used to do this stuff for a living. I get it, y...
