Re: Future of Canada's Airline Industry
[/quote] If you are in Canada, may I ask where you work? With those facts, I assume you are an AC captain with a pretty good seniority...I am in my 8th year as a commercial pilot in Canada working at a regional airline out of Vancouver and I fly 85-100 hours a month since we are always short pilots....

Re: Logging cruise relief time outside of Canada
Alright bud... if you're getting overlooked in Canada in this hiring climate, I wouldn't hold my breath for Crappay Pacific... 90k in HK is no better than 37k in Canada. Go ahead and try it... but minimum 7 years in HK to finally get your first 2000TT is pathetic... then what? Realize HK for the re...

Re: how about 10-15 20 year av canada member star or bars
now many with not much to do and always complain will poop all over the idea. I think these are the guys who would be receiving your oh so cool gold stars. Maybe Brazzers will give us all medals of honour too for spending countless hours two hand jerkin it to their free videos. Give your head a shake

Re: High altitude cold weather corrections
Into corrections. Remember you're correcting the parcel of air. Not your altitude. If the MEA is 5000 feet but you're flying in and area where the surface is at 3000 feet, remember to only correct the amount of air between you and the ground. In this case, 2000 feet. So many times I've seen pilots ...

Re: High altitude cold weather corrections
Don't correct your altitude. IFR flight rules dictate correcting for approach and missed approach altitudes and if you have aircraft specific, correct those (engine out etc). ATC will eat you alive, and if you're on an airway or just read the chart it will have min altitudes. MEA, MOCA, or follow th...

People talk. All on lay off as of May 1, 2015. Apparently they had a "fat" charters department. Interesting because apparently the "fat charter" management staff apparently kept their jobs.glorifieddriver wrote:May I ask where you got this info?

Re: What does prop rpm have to do with AHRS?
So can we not deduce from that, that maybe the plane was in the climb. Flight aware actually shows it if you look. 1900 rpm is the climb rpm in a king air. 1920-1960 is the "danger zone". This is just my opinion, and dig away, but doesn't it seem a bit stupid that the aircraft is operated by the boo...

Re: What does prop rpm have to do with AHRS?
Ok so clearly there's a lot of misunderstanding of the G1000/ahrs around here. First of all, with the G1000 installation, inverters are removed as they are unnecessary. Second of all, the stand by instruments in these installations from what I have gathered, are a standby Attitude indicator, altimet...

Re: Harvard II ejection Moosejaw, Jan 24/14
Don't know too much about this incident or the aircraft but have a few questions. First of all, glad all are safe - most important. 1) Was the touch and go landing so hard that the gear was damaged that extensively? What was the reason for this hard landing to leave pieces of the aircraft on the run...

Re: Question about Va speeds
Also a little brain teaser for you (Aerodynamic Buffs please let other respond first) regarding Va and weight... In a Caravan (like many other airplanes), it is possible to get an upgross kit. On the van it's pretty basic: Wing fences, bigger axles, and a little placard that says "at 9062lbs VA=143...

Re: What is a pilot really worth?
Many other professions, like those mentioned above, have some sort of internship period then write some sort of exam to get accreditation. Why not do this with the ATPL? If you are able to (brain capacity), check the requirements for an ATPL in Canada. Hint: You will find it in CARs, and there will...

Re: A pilot's letter to a CEO
Those "poorly trained" foreign pilots are products of Canadian flight schools. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Sure, I will agree with you on that one. However, would you also agree that a high level of English proficiency is an important skill for the safety of our skies? And would you...

Re: A pilot's letter to a CEO
Essentially what you guys are saying is that now, at a time when pilots are in demand and we have a chance to fight for what we are worth, we should sit back and be crushed by upper management because "that's just how it is." Thinking that way is never going to help the problem. Let's look at the fl...

A pilot's letter to a CEO
Please Read: An open letter from a pilot to Glen Tilton (CEO United Air Lines): Recently a lot has been said and written in the press concerning pilots' salaries and compensation. We have been told about how much it will cost our company, our job has been compared to others, and various subtle and n...
