I used to help him load the twin otter with wood and stuff. He was 65 then or so? Would out-work me! (not difficult mind you)

Re: Airport Parking Ruled a Taxable Benefit

The chief pilot said I wouldn't be able to stay away as I loved flying A LOT :-D
Turns out I like fishing even more and a load of other stuff

For us it was normal. Tillers both sides
We had a joke when one of my best friends joined at age 19 who didn't have a drivers license. Some cpts didn't let him taxi :-)
He was cpt on the 744 not 15 yrs later.

Both with the 737-300.
I did that on the b744 25 yrs ago. Fun!
Although it was even more fun to do touch and goes with the 400 at Chateauroux....

I had to laugh

This reminded me about a flight I did 20 yrs ago as a fairly new cpt 767 The station mgr from the departure point called us on the satellite that the security department knew an older woman (70+) was not checked correctly. I very much disliked the stn mgr and asked him how the **** he could allow su...

I think the answer about the pay wins.
22 yrs in the left seat of a Boeing I think nr 1 is time off and nr 2 is pay.

Re: Coming home after working overseas (ATPL)

Actually I can see that scenario for one who has put decades of time into the expat world. What I was really referring to was the disconnect you see between consumption versus typical income that you see in canada, meaning that not everyone is a surgeon or a VP of some company. You get the idea. Lo...

Re: Coming home after working overseas (ATPL)

I see an awful lot of bmw and mercedes drivers living in big houses in this admittedly communist country......... How do they do it? No clue. It wasn't that difficult. Left Canada at age 24, quit at 51. When I left there were barely any jobs in Canada so I decided to expand the horizon, which worke...

I don't have any friends, but 4 years in Canada then moved away at age 24. Moved back to Canada at age 45 and commuted until I retired at age 50.
