Re: Time Free From Duty
Good point on the multiple sub-parts scenario, however, I still find it unlikely that it would be written for that rare situation, or for the one-off job transition scenario. Most going to a 705 from a 703 will have a long (>28 day) course to do before even touching an airplane. Not intending to was...

Re: Time Free From Duty
Thanks for the replies. I still don't see why requiring 4 off in 28 is necessary, if 1 off in 7 is already required. The 1 off in 7 will ALWAYS satisfy the 4 off in 28, right? Why not require 5 off in 35, and 6 off in 42 while they're at it? Hence I always assumed that the 4 in 28 was intended to be...

Time Free From Duty
Quick question here about the new time free from duty requirements in reference to a 705 operation. A flight crew member requires: a) One single day free from duty in any 168 consecutive hours; AND b) Four single days free from duty in any 672 consecutive hours For some reason I was of the belief th...

Re: Socialized Bidding (Rouge)
Yeah, I echo some of the above. Personally I'd like to see socialization gone entirely. One of the reasons for quick upgrade availability, and a wide choice of aircraft types, is the fact that seniority exists, and some choose lifestyle well above money (freeing up others to do the opposite). If Rou...

Socialized Bidding (Rouge)
Just wondering what brought about the socialized bidding at Rouge at it's inception, seeing as how Mainline has long been a seniority based airline in all respects? Although vacation bidding is now seniority based at Rouge, the monthly schedule remains socialized. If Rouge eventually gets rolled bac...

Re: Pilot Transfer Agreement
Thanks for the reply. So, I'm assuming that it must pass at each bargaining unit individually (as opposed to collectively between the two)? Is it a 50%+ threshold for passing?

Pilot Transfer Agreement
Would anyone care to share the details of when this vote is taking place? Are there roadshows/educational materials to be presented first? Also, is it strictly WJ Mainline voters, under the assumption that Encore pilots are in favour of the conditions?
Re: One list
I hope Westjet pilots who commute from yul or yow like walking, the jumpseat is closed at encore. So what about the large # of WJ pilots that voted "YES"? Are they just banished by association? Sounds mature. Cue the precession of chest-beating about jumpseat control, and all of the other amazing p...
Re: One list
If WJ Mainline pilots had already extracted gains based on allowing Encore pilots to continue on as members of the WPDL, why is there a vote now to solidify this? Would WJ management not have already ensured this result if they had indeed given up concessions for it during mainline negots? Genuine q...

Re: High Time vs. Low Time?
Like any career, there are ways for one's knowledge/capability/productivity to eventually plateau with their experience. For auto workers, it's 2 weeks on the assembly line to max productivity/capability, yet 30 years of raises/benefit increases/bitching about work increases. A wonder that it ended ...

Re: This guy should start an airline
Although I don't agree with a "work for free" environment, what gets lost in a general comment like Poloz made, and the predictable reaction, is that many un/under employed young people severely lack any consistent work history. Many are coming out of university programs ( some very useless degrees ...

How long can Wasaya keep their operating certificate without some of these key personnel? Isn't it a requirement within 30 days or something like that?

How many planes does Wasaya currently commit to fuel hauling during the fall/ winter? Is it a pretty steady operation? I.E. do they have a large portion of the contract for those NWO communities?

What is the correct answer to #7 and #8, when you have a valid Canadian passport..? 7. *Do you currently hold a valid passport? Yes/No 8. *If not a Canadian passport, do you hold a Canadian Permanent Resident Card and all individual crew visas necessary for you to fly unrestricted, anywhere WestJet ...

AC Pilots Pension Funding Relief
Just curious if anyone knows when AC will request approval for/obtain approval for pension funding relief beyond 2013 as is suggested will happen. I assume the approval will have to come from both ACPA and the federal government. Any info would be appreciated.

Looks like it's real... Regional carrier Porter Airlines acknowledged Friday that its approximately 250 pilots are trying to form a union. Porter president and chief executive Robert Deluce said the airline values everyone's views and input as an integral part of the airline. "Porter respects our te...

Re: Billing Issue With FTU
I attended three different FTU's while attaining my commercial MIFR, and all three would have screwed me out of money had I not been diligent about keeping track of my account. The first had an actual crooked owner that would go onto the system from home and add invoices to accounts for erroneous th...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)
The news article mentioned that the pilot had only 150 hrs with the company. Was this his first job with a flying service? I realise that he had between 2-3000 hrs, but were these instructing hours, or applicable commercial experience. Not trying to rag on the guy, I'm just curious what his previous...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (5 dead)
Keystone has consistently put very low-time pilots into the left seat of the PA31, often flight instructors coming off of a Cherokee or a small Cessna, with less than 1000 hrs TT (under the guise of flying "VFR" only). I am not saying that this was necessarily the case with yesterday's pilot, but it...
