Re: Fatigue Research

Personally, I like the research comparing levels of fatigue to levels of impairment by alcohol. It seems to be the only comparison that people understand.

Re: Kelowna Airport delays

I also don't understand why a "regulatory review" takes three months or why on earth they would choose to conduct it during the WINTER. There should be more public awareness of the real issue being the lowest approach not being in use, not the adequate weather.

Re: The End of SEIFR?

I'm sure you can guess...LOL

Yeah, it was CDL, and the left side. I think maybe you were still there actually. The mighty Swede was with me coming back from Cienfuegos after dropping engineers to do boat repairs after Hurricane Denis or Emily.

Re: The End of SEIFR?

Not to wade too deeply into the argument, I only have one comment to make from my point of view. I "threw" a cylinder in a Navajo coming home to Grand Cayman from Cuba on takeoff. The flight is entirely over the ocean. Because it was a twin I was able to reduce the sick engine to near idle, keeping ...

Re: What are the best prescription sunglasses?

I've been using a pair of Ray-Bans for years. The best thing about them is when you return the factory lenses after you've put in your prescription ones, some places will give you a rebate. Over the years you may have to re-tint the glass, but the frame has lasted well with all my abuse. Just get a ...

I'm not sure about that, but I can tell you that a friend of mine who is a Crown Attorney had warned me very shortly after the crash that the Crown was going to be making an example of this.

I loved waiting in the YYC office and listening to them laugh at length at the awful pictures they were taking for the passes and how dare that one person complain. Horrible.

Make sure to check on whether you can obtain AVGAS in San Andreas as the last time I was to take a charter there, there was only JET available. Sammy's may not be available as a hotel any longer.

St. Andrews Airport, just north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fly mostly into Northwestern Ontario; at least that's what they did when I worked there.

I worked for this company and I'm as far from a "Jesus Freak" as possible. I was treated with respect and never asked to "spread the Word or chat Bible" although there may have been some praying for my soul I wasn't aware of. Just my two cents.

It's probably worth a lot to the United States who do at least 65% of the world trade in arms, research and development aside. If you stop producing goods for public consumption and import everything because the labor is cheaper, you have to start making money selling something...

I started this process with both Washington State and Oregon FSDOs in August and I still haven't heard anything regarding my licenses from the FAA. Neither allowed walk-ins.

Hopefully the new conversion process will make things easier for all.

Nice find Grimey! There was an actual physical change in my screener when the last of my autopilot parts had been swiped and tested. She even allowed me to help re-package the items and smiled when I told her that she had done a very professional job. I hate that this is only getting worse for every...

Having gone through security in Miami Intl more than a few times, my last security screening was a little strange...after being selected for an increased search I was ushered into what could only be described as a plexiglass cattle shoot. Myself and the other barefoot passengers (cattle) then had to...

I guess when you regularly begin flying into multiple international destinations, each with their own rule variations and local practices, it makes you a lot more respectful of how difficult the transition is when someone screws up in your locale. Lay off the yanks. You could sound just as unprofess...

To add to the confusion, where I fly controllers will call the aircraft by the first identifier and then the last two. Example: VP-ABC would be called VBC. Screwed me up for the first while but now I'm used to it. You're gonna hate me when I get back to Canada and mess up the first week.

I'm not sure about the rest of Mexico, but if you are going to the Yucatan (like Cancun or Cozumel) you have to get permission first. Basically this means faxing copies of your regular insurance, your Mexican coverage, your C of A, your Registration etc to Mexico City. Then they fax you back a permi...

Thanks everyone. It's been a tough choice. The suntan job I have experience with already (worked there before.) Wouldn't be too many pilots to manage, perhaps only 2. The flying is beautiful and there's no ice to remove. Just worried that I'll be stuck on pistons forever and perhaps should have jump...
