SDO's is days off, thats right, so 10 guaranteed and 3 to 5 gray. Gray days arent really reserve as its pretty easy to dodge going in.
The interview was heavy on HR and what kind of person you are but pretty light on technical.

Bob is obviously involved with the production. One of the reviews of the movie did point out that it was being marketed cleverly to pilots in trade magazines etc... I dont think that this site is the place for commercials though. Hey Bob, if I ever get caught sitting in a bar with a drink in my hand...

Crazy screaming fits over nothing directed at captains/f.o's, ground crew, gate agents, crew schedulers etc... If you ever have to pump the gear down due to a fault this person may try to pump it back up again on the go-around....in other words no systems knowledge.... Non-stop stories about many gr...

Yes, one of our best and brightest just got the call. I have never posted anything sour on this website before but I must say that I was bowled over when I heard that this person was going to AC. There really isint much justice in the world when a completely incompetent, loud-mouth nut gets a job at...

Uuuuuhhhhh, your point is illogical. Would you not think that Air Canada has a much sweeter deal with its insurance company(ies) than Mom and Pops Caravan operation? The simple fact is that a Van (or Navajo, Aztec, King Air etc...) is much more likely to crash than an AC flight. Also, the operators ...

Firefox dialogue sample; Nameless European character actor: "Gant, can you fly dat plane, reelly fly it". Clint: "Ya, I can fly it. I'm the best there is." That, ladies and gentlemen, is writing. By the way, in my very unhumble (sic) opinion, most of the movies named above are garbage. Especially ba...

I'm something of an airline pilot and I hold a university degree. However, I did not go to aviation college. In fact, I learned to fly at, good heavens, a flight school. Now, our friend above honestly seems to think that I am not quite as qualified to do my job as the holder of a certificate from Se...

I think you are missing the point of why the CF wants a degree. The purpose of the degree is to give leaders a broader base of knowledge for making leadership decisions. It has little to do with flying the airplane. By looking at the civillian world its obvious that it doesn't take a degree to fly ...

Actually the stuff from Canwest makes a refreshing change from the smegma you find in the likes of the Toronto Star. :) Canwest newspapers and newsprograms are the most slanted and lie-filled among Canada's mainstream media. Canwest, under the Asper's, is a right-wing pro-Isreal at all costs screec...

I hope nobody is stupid enough to speak to any of these reporters. TV reporters are the lowest form of dirt imaginable. They twist everything you say to make the soundbite seem a little more interesting and chances are you'll only end up looking foolish. I was even insulted by a bitch from CTV after...

What I mean by pilots that are forced to 'fly to the CARS' is that they have to go right to the limits. For example, they are used for 14 hour days (704-5) all of the time, the awful CARS reserve rule is used, they only get 3 off in 17 or 36 in 7, they have no schedule, the days that they are not ca...

Johnny, how do you as an individual negotiate directly with your employer? Do you offer to pay for your own training? That's how too many do it these days. Your point about unions not being needed today is nonsense. I can name a number of companies in aviation that, in just the last few years, have ...

That is wrong. At law an employee association meets the definition of a trade union. The Canada Labour Code defines a trade union in a very broad way. An employee association is considered to be a trade union if it has as one of its objectives the desire to "obtain for its members the best standard ...
