When i ask for it "If able we'd like to do the contact approach" Center comes back with "If able contact approach approved". We then however ususally get cleared of there frequency and told to contact FSS. So with us still 35 nm out and up a 12000 all it does is save us the hassle of going back to c...

I work where our airport is served by a Fss station. More times than not when I request decent from the ATC controller he/she will clear us to the airport for an approach. Now if i'm still at 14000 feet and say the clouds are 3000 agl at destination airport and vis is great, lots of room for a conta...

People ferry 12's, Socata's, Air Tractor's over the ocean and I would do the job as well too.(Wouldn't leave my current one though) However, when you're over the north atlantic and IF that PT6 decides to quit (f*ckin amazing engine) and IF you make a successfull ditched landing and IF you survive th...

Someone should get Richard L. Collins from "Flying" on this topic, I'm sure he would put his two cents in......... :D I have never flown a turbine spray plane however they are more reliable maintenance wise per hours flown than the old radials/pistons. But you don't hear of many if any stories of "t...

RSC I had the same thing happened to me. I was flying for a while with the "glasses must be worn" on my licence. It wasn't untill i did my ifr that the examiner asked if i was wearing contacts as i didn't have my glasses on. My medical examiner didn't even notice...not even when i went in with my co...

I had to do that for the first 5 years of my career....Becomes part of the job after a while but doesn't mean that I liked having to be close to all those obstacles all the time. Sure was nice to go to a job with open ends and no powerline to go under/over.....good ol manitoba... notorious for a pow...

Wilbur wrote The fact that you don't understand the differences between going out and doing adhoc low flying and working on a carefully planned, prepared and choreographed movie stunt sequence is the reason you should not be doing it. I have to agree fully. I always inspected every field i sprayed f...

Wow! I cropdusted for years and have gone over and under many power lines (and threw... once! )and it looks just like that in real life. It was reckless flying alongside those cars or right next to the ship. With him turning right away over the highway leads me to believe he hasn't had a lot ...

c 140 You have to ask yourself what you want with your aviation career. I grew up in the country and happened to meet an operator in our area and i always knew i wanted to be a pilot but just didn't know which route i wanted to take. I did the ag course and sprayed for 5 years out of my life. Enjoye...
