Re: New Hire Sims?

To be fair to the bench staff, what are they supposed to do. Harold Ballard has forced their hand and all they can afford is Alan Bester in net and Giveaway Gill on the blue line. They’re praying to the gods of Saskatchewan to deliver a Wendel Clark miracle. Open Tryouts? Hell, do it. Next step char...

Re: New Hire Sims?

Imagine the Leafs need a 4th line fwd and they have no draft picks to develop because they’ve traded them all away. There’s a player with 6 years pro and years of film and data on. There’s also a 18 year old playing midget. Let’s bring him in for a shootout to make sure he can play hockey. Your rink...

Re: Retro Pay

What’s the incentive to ever conclude a deal? The current deal is massively lopsided. Imagine wanting to keep that in place as long as possible with no penalty? I mean, of course. But also, lol.

Re: Don't forget to vote your shares

Hot take, executive comp is appropriately compared to similar competitors. The airline is profitable (massively). What are we voting against? Individual exec performance is not on the table.

Election of BoD is though. “The Board wants to protect summer.” Etc etc.

We most certainly are not. -prime minister of a state-owned airline -unprofitable -1980 -illegal work to rule -(4 man crew...12 hr duty day...lol) By contrast! -ceo of a publicly traded company -massively profitable, a record in fact -2023 -legal bargaining process being followed -2 man crews can wo...

Nobody in YVR tower makes less than $400k. There’s money in Canadian aviation, believe me. The cash is absolutely sloshing around.

Re: So, years ago......

Circa July 2005 when the first course post-CCAA was hired, coinciding with the beginning of the 60 EMJ order, instead of flat pay we had “position group” which was EMJ FO and all the RP positions. We all made a blended rate that was adjusted based on how many were in each position. Company had to hi...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”

I want to speak on one specific topic and it is FO % of captain pay. It’s fine where it is. Don’t conflate the flat pay problem with FO pay as a whole. Why do pilots voluntarily stay as FO for decades; it isn’t because the pay is too low. Why are Captain positions being filled by some of the least e...

Compete in Canada where you need an income of $175,000 to buy an average home? Sure Mike. Let’s start with, “An airline pilot at the country’s flag carrier should be able to afford an average home.” And go up from there.

So in the event they do operate them, there is a pre-negotiated rate? Hello? Opposed to ACPA method of “capturing” flying already within our scope by agreeing to a discount. Professional v amateur negotiating.

They bought airplanes. It’s an airline. Does Suncor announce when they buy dump trucks? I hear McDonalds bought new McFlurry machines. Great.

Willing to sacrifice OTP for profit. Customers should be furious about this. The CEO spits on your travel plans. This group couldn’t care less about operating an airline. It’s a mutual fund with wings.

Re: New CA Expectation

This is why a signing bonus is such a sneaky tactic. Last time we got $10,000. Nice, right? 9 years later it’s hardly remembered and it certainly didn’t change anyone’s life. Doesn’t compound. The other side knows this. A bonus is a bonus. Extra. As for how the public thinks about anything, AC will ...

If the company with the worst operating metrics on the continent can still makes $1.2B in a quarter, what does that say about the degree of difficulty of managing this place right now? Agree with your assumption on DB. When I started it boggled my mind how much people- even very junior people- talked about the pension the pension. It’s all pensionable time (which didn’t make any sense under DB but does now, ironically). Living life to retire. No surprise pay, quality of life, vaca...

2000 cancellations ain’t overtime it’s poor planning. Weather is the lamest excuse ever for so much disruption, I have no idea how that continues to work. The network is planned with an ICAO standard atmosphere?
