Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Of those mentioned, how many were built from ground up, vs being funded from other sources, THEN transferred over? And do those profitable airports lease or sell their lots?

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

I'm still trying to understand the business model. Typically, at most airports, (yeg, ybw, zvl, ylw, yvr, yka, etc etc etc) the lots are leased. Long- term. Cyxd has been "doomed" for many years. Period. Cooking Lake was given their airport to the condo association. But only after getting a million ...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

The use of leaded avgas is still allowed for off-road use. The exemption from provincial and municipal regulations, is only valid when the airport is for aviation use ONLY. Storage of non-aviation vehicles such as a motorhome or a boat, will void the exempt status. It is clearly stated in the legisl...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

my 2 cents worth. Kudos to PADC for their "smarts" in playing the Fed trump card. However, the minute someone trys to park their motorhome in their hangar, or someone buys avgas for their snowmobile, or a trucking company opens an office on the aerodrome, ALL BETS ARE OFF! Now you ARE subject to pro...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

FYI, depending on the model, a 737 will operate between 80.000 lbs (light) and 140,000 lbs (heavy) For that category/weight of aircraft, you need a very substantial runway, engineered to take the weight. Additionally, you need substantial taxiways, and apron area. Even with the expansion at Villeneu...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Absolutely no big deal. As long as there are no issues.
The first CADOR for a low-time student busting airspace, will change that.

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

If Parkland is 2200 asl, circuit height will be 3200 ft.
RAC 4.52 (iii) states an aircraft needing to cross the airport before joining the circuit at an uncontrolled airport ( to determine wind runway condition etc) it should be accomplished at least 500 ft above circuit altitude

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

If the supporters of Parkland understood that the City ultimately controlled the airport, and worked with ERAA instead of launching lawsuit after lawsuit, they could have helped the development of Villeneuve happen sooner. If the Parkland group want their own private airfield, so be it. Nav Canada ...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

As per my earlier post. Edmonton Airports couldn't work with the City or the businesses at City Centre airport because of the ongoing lawsuits. First ERAA was sued, then the City by the businesses that ultimately needed a place to go. That they painted themselves into the "Parkland corner" is no sur...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Lots have been available for lease at Villeneuve, and have been snapped up. More are being developed for release. How can we blame ERAA for previous inaction, when the same supporters of Parkland swore they would fight the closure with every possible legal means?. They couldn't / shouldn't second gu...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

It seems that Parkland Airport are betting the farm (pardon the pun) on the Supreme Court of Canada ruling concerning the jurisdiction of an aerodrome. I hope that they clearly understand that applies specifically and only to aviation activities. In other words, other sort of activities, that are no...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Hello all. I visited the new Parkland airport site. A couple of points. Is it really any closer to Edmonton? To mean, it seems pretty darn the same distance as to Villeneuve. Previous comments about Villeneuve talk about no water or sewer. WRONG! There is water and sewer, albeit the water is supplie...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Wow. It sure would be interesting to see an economic model on how this proposed airport will work! 25 million. Hmmm. Sell jet fuel for 18.00 a litre? Landing fee of $2500.00 ? Who is going to pay for all this? Lawsuits from the City Centre Airport closure? Lets hope it doesn't get struck by a meteor.
