Re: AME Wages - AME's Unite!!
I can only really comment as to the red seal trades part because that I know a little bit more about. I have asked about this to the people that manage the red seal trades and one of the biggest comments I have gotten back is that there must be a demand from the industry to be recognized as one. Th...

(NCA)FBO;North Cariboo Air Flying Service Ltd. – Calgary, AB
I worked for FBO; North Cariboo Flying Service Ltd., (from June 4th 2014 – Nov 7th 2014) just before I needed to move back to Montreal, Qc. to help out with family matters. I lived in Calgary, Ab. for 6+ years, and I must say that of the few companies I worked for, North Cariboo was by far the best ...

Re: Anyone Have Any AME Personal Log Books Kicking Around???
the pilot supply had their own version made up, and transport has approved it. it's a little more costly than the amber hard copy, but in the end its better than the paperback printout from transport.

Re: AME Apprentice Opportunities in Ontario or the GTA
Im just curious, now that people are telling me all the opportunities in aviation are in Alberta, where do the student and instructors of AME students in Ontario, go ? Like they all just dont relocate here, do they ? why don't the companies that leave ads for openings for ame apprentices in Ontario,...

Re: Anyone Have Any AME Personal Log Books Kicking Around???

Luckily I was able to pick one up from a friend for $20; who said he didn't need it, but only one.... his loss, my gain :) working on my M2 anyways, It's just nice to have an M1 book, wh...

As the topic reads, willing to pay up to %50 more than retail value. http://www.aviationworld.net/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/0/1/01037.jpg **They've been out of print for the past 6months, so my hopes are to find from someone who has left the industry, and d...

Re: Question: Who all views and downloads...
For the reasons mentioned, that is why I have two versions of resumes: 1) full resume, includes all my personal info (which i never place online, unless im e-mailing directly to a listed contact) & 2) a confidential version, only listing my linkedin, email and phone number. And yes, who can we conta...

Re: AME Apprentice Opportunities in Ontario or the GTA
You want money and experience, go as far north as possible. I haven't seen any advertising for hiring far north, and of the companies that I have, they don't look very reputable. I've probably signed up to over 100 RSS feeds notifying me of anything related to keyword: aviation, ame, apprentice, et...

AME Apprentice Opportunities in Ontario or the GTA
I've done majority of my studies and living here in Alberta the past five years. It's time that I move on, I'm thinking Ontario, specifically the (GTA) Greater Toronto Area. Have any of you had any experience working out east, as apprentices or AMEs ? What is the market like ? Can you make a living ...

Re: Present Year; Where in Canada has Highest Employment Opp
My personality holds to the integrity that I continue on investing myself in aviation. Perhaps I could expand my scope of expertise into another area or trade-related, but wouldn't that be like starting all over ? I mean I'd at least like to find a company within aviation that would invest time in m...

Re: Canadian North Hiring
how about AME apprentice positions; I haven't seen any postings for a long-long-long while now :/
I thought there was going to be a shortage of AME's, and needing to fill that gap in the near future; least that is what I was told in school.... that there is a high demand for apprentices... ???

What about Ontario, I mean YYZ is the hub of all of Canada, should there be more opportunity there? Or is that not an apprentice friendly zone ?tallyho wrote:Like every other industry in Canada, except maybe commercial fishing, Alberta.

Present Year; Where in Canada has Highest Employment Opp.
A simple and thorough search throughout the forums has come up dry, therefore I am asking you, the aviation community; Where in all of Canada has the highest rate of employment opportunities ?
In advance, thank you to all those who reply!

Re: Apprentice AME Licensing Experience Inquiry and etc.
There are really only 2 companies that have seperate "line" and "overhaul". westjet and Air Canada. All the other smaller companies do most everything themselves to one extent or the other. So for now - just forget about that and get yourself a job. Do yourself a favor a go over to Sunwest on Tues....

Re: Apprentice AME Licensing Experience Inquiry and etc.
Do you want to go helicopters or fixed wing? In fixed wing, there is general aviation or airlines. All of the above will fill your log book. Working in a shop environment, whether doing components or airframe overhauls, may only get you a Shop Certifying Authority, which you don't need an AME licen...

Do you have any idea what heavy maint entails. You remove flight controls land gear etc and re bush them, the sheet metal guys hammer away all day so you need ear defenders on all shift, .I did heavy for a few yrs and it was one of the worst jobs Ive had in aviation. My observations were that you c...

Re: Apprentice AME Licensing Experience Inquiry and etc.
my goals and aspirations are to work in heavy maintenance, opposed to line or overhaul as I was informed by transport that the likelihood of completing the required tasks for my AME-M Application would be done a lot quicker. Look for the position that will still have you look forward to coming in t...
