Re: Air Canada Pool
I agree it wouldn't seem logical to train for the EMJ, but they simply look at forecast flying hours for the summer in each seat and compare that to the number of QPOS (qualified positions) and if they're short they train.

Re: Situation for Jazz New Hires
Edited I stand corrected. An interesting aspect I wasn't aware of. There is a provision in the TA that for an amount LESS than 625 a corresponding 0.8 less than the 495 slots would be available. Clear as mud? eg: only 620 sign onto list, 5 X 0.8 =4 so 491 slots guaranteed. Moot point as i understand...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
Blame Air Canada... You guys sound like the CBC... Nobody likes B scales or more airline within airlines but fact is Jazz pilots are among the highest paid regional pilots in the world and have a largely mature work force. And look at the competitive landscape... Mcwages at regionals in the US, Wes...

Big News at Jazz today!!!! Some say good, some say bad. I guess it depends if you are a current pilot at Jazz or not. While I am glad that I have secured employment until 2025 as a pilot at Jazz, I am saddened by the hit my friends and colleagues will endure. This new agreement with air canada only...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
If I'm understanding it correctly, the PMA only applies to CURRENT jazz pilots on property at time of ratification..not any of the B-scale new hires.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
Just part of AC's over all fleet up gauging strategy..reduce CASM by operating larger A/C with more seats. Depending on the amount of mainline/rouge ASM growth, we will see a corresponding ASM expansion at the feed level. This is a must as you can't fill widebodies to all over the world without the ...

Re: Jazz or Encore?
I would go to encore, given the choice. I think you'll likely find the atmosphere more positive as it's a fast growing upstart. As previously mentioned, you could expect some rapid advancement opportunities. Jazz on the other hand faces some longer term challenges as the multiple feed strategy matur...

Re: Making a great Salary now, should I move?
Well this is highly subjective on my part, but if you're in your later 40's it might be a tough one to justify financially, especially with the DC plan going forward. Early 40's, I might still seriously consider it...again, IMHO

That's funny, I was on one of the earliest EMJ courses that started in early June 05...We were trained in YUL at CAE buy AC instructors and checkers...I don't remember anything about Swiss being involved but that doesn't mean it never happened...

Re: Sky Regional and Embraer jobs
Rumor has it acpa has blocked company's idea to have acpa pilots train and check the skyregional guys. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in terms of sky's ability to recruit and train that many guys in such a short time span.

Re: The race begins?
Starting in June there will be at least one possibly two 767's producing 275 seats at say 4000 miles every night when they fly to Europe.85% of those asm's will count toward the domestic mainline numbers..I'd say they will have lots if room.

Re: Sky Regional jobs?
Sky Regional is going to need to crew up for a 15 A/C expansion, from Feb to June 2013. That's about 3 A/C per month.
Then factor in the WJR start up and we're talking about a lot of new tier 2 jobs.

Re: Skyservice to operate for AC vacations (rumour)
Reasonably connected sources suspect that it was a back-up plan in case Air Canada wasn't able to launch it's own LCC in terms of the ACPA agreement. Now that's probably by the wayside and it will likely be used in some adhoc capacity until the leases expire... It wouldn't be the first time the Pays...

Re: Decision time....
Hi... If you're at some kind of regional airline, be it in the left seat or not.....you still will be if you stay at your current job. Basically what you see is what you get. If you roll the dice a bit perhaps some great opportunities will come your way. No one knows how all this will play out in th...
