Best place to be in aviation right now is not in aviation.

Canadian North has stopped some of their routes from what I hear going East-West with the low oil prices hurting bottom line of their clients.

Re: Alberta Government Fleet For Sale $11 million

Hopefully Saskatchewan will follow suit. Most unbelievably inefficient waste of tax payers money I have ever seen. Wow this one takes the most ignorant post of the year I think. The actual difference in cost was approx 1.5 million not 4 million and does not include charter flights... And Prentice i...

Re: Bose A20 Headset Bluetooth

The difference is that Bose uses a much more advanced Bluetooth software (newer version too). So when you tether your phone to your headset it is more like when you sync it in your car vs the lightspeeds are just sending audio to the headset. For years I just used the wired plug and it worked great...

Re: Alberta Gov't Air Service

If anyone was to dig into the AG Report there is some glaring inaccuracies. They come up with 9.3 Million without any proof where it comes from. They officially state the 2013-2014 Budget was only 8.1 million (Page 33). 2011-2012 budget was 6.3 Million and 2012-2013 was 6.7 Million. The reason for t...

Why can't you share the ramp? Do these guys think they are the goverment? Park on the ramp if need be, tell them to move the AC if they like. Sounds like the place is being run by inmates. Tell them to pull up there socks or they might get the same treatment as the AB prov. crew's. At something lik...

Re: Former Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel

I think the better question is how Mandel is able to hold this position and not be in conflict of interest (or even corrupted) from his many business dealings with the Katz Group (Rexall and all the backend companies for that). Mandel getting this position as the kickback from Katz Group huge donati...

Alternate gear extension, so they unbolted the electric motor under the floor boards? Or in the heat of the moment did they forget this? There should have been no issue manually lowering the gear with it unbolted.

I am sure there will be turbine only and no older then clause so I doubt 100's and HO's will ever meet government requirements....

Plus their minimum pilot experience is 3000 hours (either seat) so that rules out almost all Airco pilots most likely.

Katz is not just front end Rexall but there is many other back end business. Katz also owns building (and leased to) for government. As a side note having this very discussion with Flight Safety in relation to "stabilized approaches" ie) breaking out at 200' and instead of reconfiguring the aircraft maintain flaps appr to landing. I was advised that the NTSB actually lands flap approach using the stall speed * 1.3 and then for pe...

Thunder as a dispatcher then getting upgraded to the 208 is a good route. Several guys just made the move and it was less then a year. You write your own ticket at Thunder if you are motivated. Plus no bond from what I understand if you go that route. Pretty good deal for an ultra low timer.

Re: Weekly West Wind Captain Ad

Well for your information I have never flown a PC12 or C208 and have plenty of Turbine MPIC so this issue has nothing to do with me. I do know many people who do fly PC12 and I do think it is not fair in many ways to group PC12 PIC in the same category as C150 PIC but that seems to be the reality of...
