Current Carson Pay for 350 captain?

What’s the latest on Carson? Can you get more than the 100k required to live in Vancouver to start? Seems like they are requiring a fair amount of experience. Anyone know when the next Medevac contract is coming up?

Re: Finally wages are coming up

Edit: Re 208 drivers in 2011. That year was a bonfire of money in exploration. Selecting that year as a comparator when most pilots were on mileage is shamefully misleading. Nope, not misleading at all. Made more the next year and wasn’t involved in exploration. I did fly my ass off those years tho...

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

Looked at an article the other day when I was interested in this subject and saw the Delta CEO made 19mil a year about 300x the average wage at his company. Southwest CEO made a paltry 7 mil which was about 90x the 80,000 average salary. I don’t know what the average wage is at WJ but I know Saretsk...

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

Oh god!?! Trump vs Trudeau guys... really? They both suck of course but this wage disparity existed before them and will after. I don’t think the majors have felt the shortage of pilots like the regionals have. So I am not sure the 1500 atpl is a good explanation. It explains bonuses and contracts a...

Re: Why aren’t unions pushing for FAA ATP req?

Chief pilots do what owners tell them to keep their jobs. Operators don’t pay more because they can still find someone to fill the job. The result being less upward pressure on wages. You might wish companies would do something on their own but they won’t until they have to. I would think unions cou...

Why aren’t unions pushing for FAA ATP req?

Seems like an obvious way to create a barrier to entry that could put more demand for experienced pilots?

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

The health insurance accounts for nothing. AA pilots probably have a pretty nice package and if you are in a certain tier of society in the USA the health services are probably better user experience than in Canada.

Now if you lose your medical and your income there...

Re: Bush pilots love Canada Goose jackets?

I would like a Canada goose jacket but they are so damn expensive. I am not saying you don't get what you pay for. The USA or Canada made woolrich arctic parka costs about as much but you can get one that was manufactured in China for cheaper. Anyone find something cheaper than Canada goose that wor...

Re: Aerocourse atpl incorrect questions??

The newest book doesn't have a correction on their website for CAR's question 2. They say that a person over 40 years needs a medical every six months and an ecg every 12 months and an AUDIOGRAM is req. an audiogram is not req at 40. It's not req after your initial until you are 55 if you haven't do...

Re: CAP GEN question!!! please help

Once you have a handle on which chart you re supposed to be using, its pretty easy to remember the limiting numbers for the apprchs that you use the most. Be sure to read the bit in the cap gen about when an apprch ban is in effect, particulary of you fly north of 60. Also, futher to the point abou...

Re: do company pilots/mechanics count is pax under 703?

"You should be able to quote the CARs like a preacher does the Bible. Start small, and work up from there." Now there is an apt metaphor. Let's get a bunch of preachers in a room and see if they agree. Perhaps a Pentacostal, Methodist, Baptist, and Mennonite etc and have a discussion about the Bible...

Re: do company pilots/mechanics count is pax under 703?

It seems like the most concise answer is in the definition of crew member rather than passenger. "crew member" - means a person assigned to duty in an aircraft during flight time If you don't have duty then you must be a passenger unless you are an infant. At least that's how I read it. so if you ar...

Re: do company pilots/mechanics count is pax under 703?

"passenger" - means a person, other than a crew member , who is carried on board an aircraft; (passager) So, in short: -in a single engine, 9 is max -multi-engine, you could getaway bringing 1 up front if you are single pilot. (Empty pilot seat) -passenger means anyone who is not a crew member (inc...

Re: do company pilots/mechanics count is pax under 703?

Ok, that makes sense. Are there any references for this or is it just interpretation. I am not sure what the definition of required crew is. If I was flying single pilot IFR and I decided to have another pilot along... from what I understand I can have another pilot along if I want and I am not requ...

Re: do company pilots/mechanics count is pax under 703?

9 seats = 703 10 seats = 704 # of pax is irrelevant So if I am flying a plane single pilot IFR I may choose to put a passenger up front with me or not. If not I might put 9 seats in the back and have the copilots seat vacant. In which case I might have 10 seats on the aircraft available but only 9 ...
