Re: PPL Meteorology

Thanks again guys! It is starting to make sence to me now. I print out all relevent material from navcanada and look outside and compare what I am seeing to what is on paper. I have also called fss and got a briefing for the next day. That coupled with the Air Weather Command and youtube has me read...

Re: PPL Meteorology

YouTube! Why didn't I think of that? Also I like the idea of calling after peak hours to fss. Interpretation isn't a problem it seems to more of a memorization thing, cloud types and air masses. Also seem to struggle with fronts and pressure regions that sort of thing. I have been trying to watch th...

PPL Meteorology

At the risk of being flamed I post this question: I am having trouble with the met section of the ppl writen test. I have been through the ground school twice for these classes, read from the ground up and now I have bought the air command weather manual. Is there anything else I can read (or watch)...

Apple in the plane

What would you guys buy right now. Would you buy a new ipad (3) or a macbook air? I like the idea of having the IPad and running some sort of flight software and having it in the plane with me and also as a tool to get Wx, and to aid in flight planning I also think that there is sofware for the macb...

Re: Flight Training around the GTA

I just started my ground training (again...different thread) at Brmpton flight center. The ground school as been very very good so far. Planes are good, instructors are great. Brampton is uncontrolled air space and it may bit easier to get out in a timely matter, so you may save a few dollars by not...

Re: Question regarding long break in flight training..

I was at 52 hours flight time and getting ready for my air exam. A job opportunity turned up and I left flying for 10 years. I started flying again and I switched between two different types of aircraft. Like yourself, I wasn't sure if all my previous time counted. Turns out it did, thank goodness....

Re: Hiring Instructors

Thank you SSU. That is very informative and exacly what i was looking for. What about people skills? Lets face it at the end of the day if you can not sell yourself and the flight school, your not going to make a lot of money for either. I had a intro flight with a person who had the personality of ...

Re: Hiring Instructors

Here a is question to those that do the hiring of class 4's.... What makes a good class 4 on paper? I read that there is not a shortage of resumes kicking around the flight schools, as you are rifling though them what makes you stop and look at...well MINE! In other words, what makes a great instruc...

Re: Jetblue Captain not guilty by reason of insanity

On a lighter note: all you single-pilot guys out there take notice: stop "interfering" with yourselves on those long boring rides: turns out it's illegal! But it helps to reduce stress, therefore it's beneficial to safety. :smt040 Now thats funny!!! Bathsalts sound scary! My prayers go out an...

Re: Private air strip and Hanger for rent

It is my paradise for sure, 2 stocked trout ponds, a rental property and air strip... heaven! It was a bit out of my price range but with the rental i may just be able to make it happen. The wife fell in love with the land but was hesitant because of all the work it may be. I say bring it on! Not lo...

Re: Private air strip and Hanger for rent

I should have stated where it is i guess. (Cpv2) It is located just to the north west of Orangeville. I fly out of Brampton a lot so I know the area. Its located very close to the brampton pratice area. The hanger is massive 4700 square feet, and I bet I could get 2 172's in it. The only problem I s...

Private air strip and Hanger for rent

Hi This may be the wrong spot of this but here goes... I am looking at a new house and I happen to cross 1 with a private hanger and a federally reg 2300 foot grass strip. I fell in love with the rental property on it and the grass strip. I dont own yet...but maybe this should be my reason. I would ...

Re: Starting my training again

That is sound advise and something I am going to do. I was a lot younger and have a different mind set now. I took flying forgranted and had a money backer (mother and father) Both have tragically passed away at a very young age. I am doing this on my dime now and have about 10 years of maturing sin...

Re: Starting my training again

Thanks I will have a look at the site, anything thats helps is a good thing to use in my books. As far as my 80-some hrs, do i still get credit for them or do I need to build up the required 45hrs again? I dont think it will take that long to get back up to speed. Afterall the instructor I just took...

Starting my training again

Hello guys I am very new to this forum but I have had about 12 hours of browsing. I do not want to be a troll just get some help and learn as much as i can. Heres my story: 6 years ago I was training for my PPL and I loved to fly, thats all I wanted to do. In fact I could fly a whole lot better than...
