Re: Flight Dispatcher Career

I agree with the post above to some degree. Being a Flight Dispatcher is not for everyone. And there is no way to explain it or to get an idea of what it is like unless you just do it. There are three types of operation for Flight Dispatch. Type A - Complex ops, international operation, pay is usual...

Re: Sliding scale alternate weather

Every dispatch would have to understand basics of how approach limitations work in order to be eligible for a job that issues directives to a flight crew. Wouldn't that be maintaining a great safety-risk otherwise ? ie: Is it even still allowed for an individual who is void of this simple WX relate...

Re: Books to study for the flight dispatchers exam.

. electronic copies are hard to get, because its a copyright infringement and they would sue the person who publish the book openly online.

AIM, From Grounds up, any ATPL book, there are even some online Dx courses that are pretty well done.

Yeah, You are right, FDMet is pretty straight frwd. But the FDops had it fair share of calculations to do. It's also filled with charts requiring you to memorize different formulas.

Re: I need help with flight dispatcher course in Canada

Hi, I know this post is old, but I hope someone can answer my question :-) I just started to study for the dispatcher exams on pilottraining.ca ... They don't mention anything about needing a flight computer or a plotter for the course. Which leads me to the question.. Are there any calculations in...

Re: Do som research before paying for a Helicopter Pilot's L

No. Cheapest AIRCRAFT, not the cheapest training. Training pilot here with thousands of hours of industry time, or a low timer in the US? Your choice. hmm, I always had some issues with people complaining about that. Yes indeed most of the FAA CFI are low timers, with little experience etc etc, But...

^This. Best advice you can get.
So might as well go down south and do my FAA licence, since training on a 300 or R22 would cost me 310$/h ?

Re: Do som research before paying for a Helicopter Pilot's L

Hey Guys, Interesting topic.

What are you're taught on the type of Heli a new guy should do his training for CPL-H ?

Jet Ranger ? R22 ? R44 ? 300 ? AS ?

Is it worth it to go directly ( or transition ) on Jet ?

Re: Jobs as a dispatcher

Myself and another colleague have considered getting into dispatch as a career, but I've never understood the career track. For a pilot it's a clearly defined (and expensive!) training package and then either instructing or washing planes in far away places for about 5 years and if you're lucky the...

Re: Jobs as a dispatcher

I assume that we are talking about Certified Dispatch Jobs, A flight dispatcher is like a ground captain, except where the captain is operating a single aircraft, an airline dispatcher can be responsible for up to 50 aircraft during a single shift, including charting routes and alternates, calculati...
