The important thing to remember is that the people in airline management and government, who make all the relevant decisions, read all these internet websites and make up their minds about what to do, exclusively based on opinions expressed in these anonymous postings. For the truly dense, it might ...

It's sad - or just perhaps indicative of the decline of civilization - that the highest that most pilots aspire to today, is to watch a computer fly a big cow of an airplane.

Do you think they flying will be enjoyable? Or is it just easy money that you think you're after?

Screw the greaser business. As Navy pilots say about the Air Force, "Flare to land, squat to pee". Far more importantly, figure out what your final approach speed should be (at the weight, etc) then nail it. Too many pilots (usually low-time with marginal stick and rudder skills) allow the speed to ...

It's interesting that when the rubber hits the road, it becomes quite clear that Air Canada is really still part of the Federal Government. How nice it must be, to operate with a safety net unwillingly provided by the taxpayers. There are sure a lot of other companies in Canada that wished they had ...

Do you have a CARs reference for your shouted "THIS IS A FACT" statement? Of course, we all know that Transport plays fast and loose with the CARs and the Aeronautics Act when it suits them to do so. You'll have to forgive me for being a bit skeptical of an anonymous posting by a new user. Transport...

You're dreaming in technicolour if you think Scare Canada's going away. Keep in mind the following: 1) It's an election year. Paul Martin has even started running ads. 2) The liberals know they need Quebec to win. They can't count on many votes west of yqt. 3) The liberals know Scare Canada is very,...

Anyone remember the scene in the movie _From Dusk Till Dawn_ where they're in that incredible bar, and the staff have just turned into demons/vampires, and Selma Hayek (now THERE'S a hot chick) is standing over George Clooney, who's on his back reloading his pistol. Selma is going on and on about ho...

Blech. I'm so glad I'm old enough to be able to not care about all this multi-pilot political crap.

Anyone here old enough to remember when real airplanes had one engine, one seat, one pilot, and no BS ?

I wish I could tell EasternAv8tor how bad I feel about her feeling bad about all this. However, my problem is that since I am a vocabulary-challenged, mouth-breathing, crotch-scratching cretin of ill repute, I just can't think of the right word to use, to express how precisely bad I feel. See, 1/100...

A lot of negativity here, which is understandable. I think the problem a lot of people have is that they try to treat women as normal people - you know, reason with them, or expect rational, logical or consistent behaviour from them. Of course, anyone that's been married will tell you that just isn'...

Bandaid: help me understand this "relationship" stuff. You have a "bad day at work", where presumably you make the effort to be pleasant to people you don't like very much. Then you go home a "vent" at your supposed "best friend", which doesn't sound very pleasant. Summary: you spent the day being n...

Europeans don't think much of North Americans, in general. They're jealous of North America's economic and military successes. What do you think the whole multi-national European taxpayer-funded Airbus program is? To stick the Americans one in the eye. If the Europeans want to be proud of their exce...

The later it is, and the drunker you are, the better she looks. Here's a handy rule of thumb: add 1 point for every hour after 10pm, and another point for every 5 beers you've had that evening. So a woman who starts as a "2" at 10pm, by 3 am has been upgraded to a 2 + 5 hours = "7". And if you've ha...

Air America

John Deakin has written a new column at avweb.com about his years in southeast asia. I couldn't help but laugh when I read this part. The more the Feds change, the more they stay the same. John says: I was forced to take my initial ATP ride (in 1962) with an FAA Inspector named Robert Arendel of the...
