Re: Island flying

Our country has its own civil aviation authority and they will issue you with an in-country licence here. As long as you already have an ICAO or FAA or EASA licence already, you are golden.

Thanks for watching! :)

We are hiring and so are the other local operators. So it could have been anyone of us.

Thanks! Cool to know we probably flew the same birds up in Pine Dock. :)

Day in the life of a Canadian bush pilot

This is several years old now, but I came across these videos that I had made almost a decade ago. Enjoy!

Re: best plane for 4 people

Socata TB-10, if you can get your hands on one. They are pretty rare and far between in N. America. I did my PPL in the South Pacific before coming up here to finish training. After the PPL I got a check out on the TB-10 and never looked back. I have yet to see an airplane that can come close to mat...

It is always better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than in the air wishing you were on the ground.... Yes, so true. Spring will come.... +1000000!!!! Its so easy as low time guys to feel pressure to get a trip done but fact is most of these pressures are self imposed. If you ever f...

Pet Peeves: 1) When people transmit circuit intentions on 6.7 in a 2.8 ATF or MF. (look at your CFS Bruce) 2) When I'm on the ground and I give a pre take-off call specifying I'll be climbing to 3000 feet and some guy, 4000 feet above me says, "FABC 7000 feet above the field, north bound, no conflic...

Re: Skydiving Caravan max pax?

Like Kokanee says. As long as you're not exceeding 8000lb on take off (regular axles) you can cram as many guys in there as you want as long as they all have belts. Tie downs are easy in the Caravan. The tracks are designed for it. Performance wise you won't have any trouble with 14 guys on the baby...

Yes, and let's ban the phrase "don't you know how to use the 'search/ function?" Definitely agree with that! First of all the 'Search' button is woefully inconspicuous and people new to the forum may not see it at first. It's the new people that we must be the most patient with. As for STL's initia...

http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2013/January/10/Secret-no-fly-zone It was just marked on the chart as an obstruction, but there was no restriction. He flew 1000ft AGL over it, which seems reasonable. This just makes my blood boil! Those cops need to learn a little "politeness". I would ...

Re: Class 3 Medical 3 month wait for non-citizen?

I call total BS or just plain misinformation. I was not a Canadian for the first 5 years in Canada. Did my medicals every year and flight training for the first year. Never had any wait that long. All processed as "efficiently" as the bureaucracy could. The medicals always came in within a couple we...

I've been to several flight schools over the years (in several countries across the globe). Harv's Air is at the top if my list. Quality training and personalized instruction is definitely one of their strong points. What colonel sanders said is very true, though. You can be at the best flight schoo...
