Re: w-sim clarification?
Basic stuff. Just know that if a plane is going eastbound and the wind is 270 at x knots, then the plane is grounding faster that indicated, and the opposite if the winds are from 090. If you master the preparation questions they give you for the wSim, your job is done. You should be able to do fine...

Re: w-sim clarification?
Definitly no conversion to do.
The wSim is the only test you can prepare for this exam. You should do and re-do it until it becomes so easy. No reason not to ace this section on D-Day.
Hint : Make sure to understand how wind will affect the speed of your planes.

Re: Navcanada YUL training 2014
Don't quote me on this one as I'm not 100% sure, but I think it will be in May. Which means you'll probably be receiving your CD Rom soon as they usually give you 6-8 weeks to study the beast (Introduction To Aviation). Depending on you aviation background, you should budget somewhere between 60 to ...

Re: NavCanada testing
Hi Pierce 20, what Wing describes is the old test format back when SHL was doing the recruting process. Since NavCan brought it back in house, I believe in 2009, the test has changed a lot. I suggest you scroll in the past discussions to find all sort of usefull cues for the exam. Here are a few qui...

Re: Helo Pilot to ATC
Your military formation will probably give you an edge once you make it to the interviews. However, you have to passe the two tests before that. The first test is online and the seconde one is the in-person test. From what I figure, after the in-person test, about 2/3 of applicants are cut. The firs...

Re: YEG courses 2013
I had three months between the 2nd interview and the start of training. So no, by no means you're out of the September training. 3 weeks after the interview I had the green light. 2 days later, the package was at my front door. 2 months to study the intro course Now set to start the IFR course in 2 ...

Yay..... got my final green light... so happy... IFR stream.
(must admit I'm a little scared of the IFR stream with the low passing rates)

How long between 1st and 2nd interview?
How long did you guys had to wait between first and second interviews? They rushed me before christmas for my first interview. Did it on December 21st. After that, they called a few days later to schedule a french/english exam (I'm in the YUL region). Did the english exam on january 3rd. They sent a...

Re: Becoming an ATC
You should send an email to Human Resources at NavCan. I had a similar problem when I registered and Johanne at NavCan made sure everything was OK with my application.

Re: Becoming an ATC
Hey Nick, you have two choices here. 1) Become flight dispatch. For that, you need to pass a couple of exams at Transport Canada. For these, you can take preparation at York U,Air Georgian or a few others. As a flight dispatch, you'll work for the airline companies. 2) Become an ATC (FSS, VFR or IFR...

Re: Recruiting process for ATC
Congrats Mike.
Quick question for you. Can you tell me at what point in the process you chose between VFR and IFR?
Is it your choice or do they place you where they think you'll be a better fit?

VFR in Quebec
Hi, can VFR in the province of Quebec tell me in which city they started their career?
I'm due to pass my exam in a month and was wondering should I pass, do I ask for VFR formation and be ready to go anywhere in the province or IFR and have the security of working in Dorval.
