No published CFA for a particular area?
Do we still broadcast on 126.7 even though it's still Class E airspace and close to civilization? (e.g., Flying north from Stratford ON to Goderich)

Looks like I was way off on the "arm's length" interpretation. Mr. Sanders, perhaps you are right.

Re: Question about Recency Requirements
Thank you, sir. Reading the CARS, I see the "under direct supervision" requirement for 35 hours dual. What about building the 30 solo flight time? I ask because I am training on the instructor's personal aircraft (C150). I have hours on a C172 at another airport to take friends and family flying. Ca...

Question about Recency Requirements
I've had a private for a two years now and I am in commercial training. I haven't done anything with the recency requirements below. The 5 year requirements say: Within 12 months of the flight - - completed a flight review - instructor has certified the holder meets the skill requirements for issuan...

Flying Expenses - Form TL11B
Confused about TL11B. I did my private with a FTU. Now renting hours on a private owner's equipment towards commercial, for which I am registered on insurance, and enrolled in the Harvs Air online ground school. I have all my receipts for the private, including block hours and fuel purchased. Harvs ...

Re: PTR nightmares
I wish I had stood up for myself when I had a bad instructor. He did not teach me how to properly lean a mixture at all up until the point he got a flying job, let alone WHY we lean a mixture in the first place. There was no talk about leaning the mixture, except him once saying "Pull the mixture co...

Flying to US - Question
When flying to the US, I understand you need to land at an AOE of first. I'm planning a flight to KPTK - Oakland County Int'l - which is not an AOE. I think I read somewhere you can arrange to have customs meet you at an airport? Is this true? Anything else I should be aware of? Is there a comprehen...

Re: How to select a flying school.
I wish I had done my research and read this thread prior to doing my PPL. I trained with an instructor on this forum who has since moved on in his career. He is a great individual who I'd love to share a beer with but a shit instructor who clearly hated to teach. His ground school lessons were a nig...

Explain it like I am 5 - what's the management strife?
I don't know any background information, but I hear pilots are unhappy with contracts. Can someone please explain in layman's terms what this all means?

Possible to fly for Air Canada with a late start?
Safe flying aviators!
I'm getting my start late in the game with this career. I'm 32 and my goal is to fly for Air Canada. Is it possible to be hired for Air Canada before I am 40 on a narrow body aircraft?
Words of wisdom appreciated from all walks of life at the big AC.

Question: Back Tracking
When landing on a runway with no taxiways at one end except a turnaround bay for back tracking, do we having to use the bay or can we do a "u-turn" on the runway to taxi to apron if the a/c stops much much sooner? This for an aerodrome with an ATF.

Re: Left Base/Right Base, Left DW, Right DW - Who's POV?
In the CFS it states: "1. Rgt hand circuits Rwy 15 (CAR 602.96). Circuit height 1650 ASL except as authorized by ATC. 2. Turns to final apch will be made at or above 1150 ASL. DEPARTURES: Rwy 03, 21 & 33 no turns below 1150 ASL. Rwy 15 after tkof track rwy centreline. No rgt turns below 1150 ASL (50...

Re: Left Base/Right Base, Left DW, Right DW - Who's POV?
It's basically from the runway's point of view. So if it's left base for 16, you first imagine yourself on final for 16 (i.e. heading south), then it should be easy to visualize the left-base, left-downwind or whatever. I think your confusion is that you will never be cleared "left base to YKZ", it...

Left Base/Right Base, Left DW, Right DW - Who's POV?
When cleared left base or right base, who's POV is it from?
Example: arriving from the north to CYKZ, cleared right base.

Colonel Sanders, one option I've been considering is block time.Colonel Sanders wrote:If I were you I would buy an airplane, and sell it

And find the right (min class 3) instructor.
But that's just me.

Flight Training (Flexibility vs Structured)
Hi aviators, I'm a low time PPL. Did it part time and got it done in about 6-7 months without a loan. I work full time and now I am considering moving up in my ratings. The end goal is a flying job. I am in a position to use my entire salary to pay for flight training w/o touching savings, or taking...
