Re: Pre Purcase Checkout.
I would suggest you contact Dale at Coast Dog Aviation based out of Pitt Meadows if you are looking for a pre-purchase inspection or whatever. There's not much he doesn't know about most aircraft.

Re: Question about a strange floatplane experience
The original post said that the aircraft in question was heading toward the ramp with the engine running, not being pushed down the ramp. I would not regard this as a strange experience at all - I do it quite often. My hangar is on the opposite side of the airfield as the float ramp, so I often warm...

Re: Squamish Flyers
Good idea, I'll email them and find out.
BTW - I flew up to Lake Lovelywater on the 10th of May expecting to go hiking around the lake and found the back half of the lake still covered in ice, with no obvious signs of it wanting to break up anytime soon.

Squamish Flyers
Hey, can any of you pilots who regularly fly in the Squamish area have a bit of a look over at Lake Lovelywater when you're flying by and let me know when the ice comes off the back half of the lake?
Thanks

Re: Pre-Purchase AME Lower Mainland
Coast Dog Aviation for sure. Dale did the pre-purchase inspection on my 185 on floats a few years back. Top notch, and knows just about everyone - he was able to talk direct with the pilots/maintainers of my (future) aircraft that he knew and get the inside lowdown on the aircraft. It made the purch...

Re: Float flying Saskatchewan
I flew my (new to me) Maule back to Vancouver from Ottawa a number of years back, and was told of a doctor who have a floatplane, dock and fuel just west of the PA airport, behind Bateman Island (you can see the floatplane on Google Maps). He shared his little dock with me, sold me fuel at cost, and...

Re: Any Australian Pilots in Canada - Licence Conversion...
I'm a Canadian that came back home with a lowly Aussie PPL. When I returned to Canada I needed to do a couple of additional hours of 'instrument time' in order to satisfy the requirments of a Canadian PPL. Although I doubt it if this would be an issue for you cpl-types.
