Re: YCG
Do you think any plan to add YYC-YCG in the future? You're more likely to see Pacific Coastal on YZZ - YYC long before Encore ever goes into YCG. Pacific Coastal currently serves YZZ from YVR and has for many years. YYC -YZZ might be an interesting route for WS to try using Link. I think Pacific Co...

Re: YYC Route Suspensions
True but for a company like AC if the flights are full and the yields are shit then they are pricing it incorrectly Two edged sword, increase the fares above what your competitors are offering, risk lower loads factors as consumers will just book elsewhere. It's a very delicate balance for yield ma...

Porter sold the terminal some time ago. Their only current assets are the fleet of DH4's, roughly about 30 tails.Realitychex wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:57 pm Unlike Porter, they don’t have a $50m terminal they can do a $700m+ sale leaseback on to fill the coffers. Flair has virtually no assets.

Re: The Technological Future of the Profession
I don't foresee the complete elimination of pilots on commercial airliners, I however do see the potential of single pilot operations where the human element is more of an observer that will take control only when necessary, otherwise it's fully automated.

1 Tail in YVR, 1 Tail in YYC, 2 perhaps in YUL still and about 3-4 in YYZ. Won't be done completely unit Nov or December Somewhere between Dec 31 and January 31 they will all be parked in YYB or on the way to the scrap yard. All Jazz D8 pilots will be in training in other equipment types. Will the ...

Re: CRJ200 to YXC
I see the CRJ is making an appearance at YXC. I believe this is first time a regional operator has run a jet to Cranbrook. Does anyone know if this is temporary? Back in the day, late 90s Canadian Regional was running F28s into YXC. I would imagine the CRJ is temporary, then again I've been wrong b...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??
Is there perhaps a possibility that the classic will stick around a little longer? Or is it still in the plan to retire all the classics by the end of 2021? With the aviation sector ramping up and increasing quite quickly, perhaps they have revised their need to keep it a little longer... I persona...

Re: First flight on Flair
What he’s saying is its only a connecting flight in that sense if they’re booked together. This is a technicality allowing ulcc’s to never have connecting flights and not be held liable for missed “connections” That's sketchy and its going to cause further regulations to be placed on the industry. ...

Re: First flight on Flair
Recline is locked out onboard all our aircraft. Gotta pay extra for that, eh? Spirit style. My idea for additional ancillary revenue would be to install armrests that take Loonies and Toonies , the more you insert, the more recline you get. So to start, a Loonie gets you a 1/2 inch, a Toonie ...

Re: Q400 and YCG
Flights are operating with very decent loads. Any plan to increase frequency this summer? It looks like most other bases in BC are going to at least daily in August. That's good news on the load side. I'm more curious to see if they'll want to operate during the winter months when it becomes a crap...

whatever happened to their c-ceries/A220 order?! I suspect this is more of the same. It was conditional on being allowed to use them into the island was it not ? I believe that is correct. It is interesting that they chose to purchase the E195-E2 and it was not conditional on having access for the ...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??
I was speaking with our YYZ Capt rep last week. For now, it looks like AC wants to keep 5 -300's between YYZ and YUL. We'll see if that plan sticks.... Either temporary or a stupid move. Air Canada can't possibly compete long term on that route with WestJet, Porter, and Air Transat offering noticea...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??
Personally, I don't believe AC wants Jazz to fly 50 pax airplanes. They rather have that contracted out (code share) to cheaper carriers. I see Jazz going to a 1 jet / 1 turboprop fleet (Embraer / Q400) or maybe just jet... Gazing into my crystal ball, that's what I'm envisioning too, all 76-78 sea...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??
At the very least I anticipate AC will remove the 15 CRJ-200s from the fleet plan at the end of 2025, leaving a potential 199 covered aircraft. Of course the minimum is 80. so who knows. I think the CRJ 200 should be out right behind the Dash 8 Classic. They're old and have outlived their purpose. ...

This can give a rough idea. Page 15 https://www.aircanada.com/content/dam/aircanada/portal/documents/PDF/en/quarterly-result/2021/2021_MDA_q1.pdf Yikes, the overall (Express) fleet sure is shrinking after each quarter. The next hurdle for Jazz will be post 2025 when AC makes decisions about the CHR...

Q400 and YCG
I was looking at the summer flight schedule and noticed AC added YCG with the Q400, just went I thought they were permanently pulling out due to the planned removal of the Q300. It's currently scheduled to operate 3 days a week in July, with CMA still showing once daily with the BEH. Based on the hi...
