Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Unless Transat Pilots work for free or Transat can get away with bringing in foreign pilots themselves, there is NO WAY they can operate the 737's cheaper/more efficiently than Canjet! That's not to say though that Transat flying can't go to somebody else (Enerjet/Flair) that possibly can do it chea...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
And let's not forget that Canjet has done TREMENDOUS damage to Air Transat's reputation in the past few years (not attaking anybody here, this is out of pilot's hands). So this issue, among others, is obviously a factor in their decesion to think about brining the flying in-house. Sick and tired of...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
NOT GOING UNDER Here's a fact: ....CanJet is not going under. IMP is very solvent.......CJ will still be here next year. OceanGal...I hope you are right & I am wrong for everyones sake. It is actually beyond next year (2014) that is worrisome. I know job security is a myth in aviation (especially c...

Re: Sunwing labour negotiations
Funny how Skyservice has split into two factions. One being Sunwing, and the other being Sky Regional....and ironically both outfits are sufferring from the same shady & tyrannical management style that dogged Skyservice for the 15 years it was around! lol

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
It's been said before. Mr. Rowe has no intension of running an airline. Soon as he dies, so does CanJet. His kids have have no interest in it either. It's a matter of time. Isn't he 80 something? Thats the scary part of it onetree... A company with no vision or direction. Had Transat not fallen on ...

Re: Air Transat sets stage for important announcements
57's were nixed by Transat Group' as too old and unreliable. Canjet had some picked out. So we were told but in actuality YHZ couldn't get their shit together to meet the deadlines set out by TS for securing aircraft and getting TC approvals. To make a long story short, we snoozed and we lost. Dont...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Hey TNCM. I think we are hiring about 80 (I heard) for the 737 this year. Send that ressie in. Sorry for hijacking thread. Ok Legacy, now I see what you are after...Good luck with your recruitment drive! As for your comments about being educated, some of us have been in this business since you were...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Oh but the brewhouse server doesnt get profit-share - even tho she prob makes more on tips! Gotta love "Waco-Jet" & their "sister-wives culture". I had the chance to work for them but I declined as I refuse to live on the Qureshi compound out in Calgary & not a fan of the koolaid...been there, done ...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
...back to the original topic at hand, I wonder "IF" Canjet has put any thought into going back to their roots as an LCC. They were doing quite well before WJ & AC squeezed them out of it in 2005...hmm

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
This is the part that annoys me. You wanna be reminded that WJ is low cost! If we went under tomorrow you would see what AC does to fares. The reason why you dont think WJ is low cost is you become accustomed to low fares Really?...wow....thank god for WJ for keeping the fares low & AC in line. Nic...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Interesting points Goose...I agree...there is no REAL true low-cost airline in Canada. WJ started off as such but their fares (and even service levels) are now pretty on par, if not more expensive than AC! Rouge will be just another "flash-in-the-pan" for AC just like Tango & Zip were. It's charters...

Re: Air Transat sets stage for important announcements
One would think that if Transat was going to get its own fleet of 737's they would hire most of the CanJet guys and not let them walk over to Sunwing/WestJet. You are kidding right!? SWG is very happy subbing work to foreigners..so much so that their entire summer 2013 is subbed to Corsair. They do...

Canjet going under (again)?
So... ...with Transat not renewing & eye'ing our 737's, is the enevitable on the horizon? They've done it before which is what scares me :( I dont think TS will be accepting any direct-entry 737NG captains with their layoff numbers...will they? wow...that makes it 2 airlines in 3 years, perhap...

Re: Air Transat sets stage for important announcements
As painful as it is to hear, there is a lot of truth in Goose's posting. I have to say it is a very sad state of affairs at Canjet and morale is in the pits right now. Management is also being very quiet which is not helping matters any. From being in the business for some time, I can say that Canje...
