Thanks, I will give that a try.
BTW, in case I was unclear, I am looking for a TC certificated instructor who can log dual hours with me.
Thanks,

Canadian CFIs in Africa or East Asia?
Does anybody know any Transport Canada certificated CFIs also doing flight instruction overseas, specifically in Africa or East Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines or there about)?
Thanks,

Re: TC to FAA licence conversion
Unfortunately, work is getting in the way of studying. I haven't progressed beyond a few sections specifically for ATP. I should blow this Popsicle stand in a few days and then have more time.
Good luck on the 14th,
Brian

Re: TC to FAA licence conversion
One other point...the ATP written process changes DRAMATICALLY after 31 July 2014 due to politicians passing some really absurd laws so they could pretend they fixed something and kowtow to unions. After 31 July, you must spend a ton of money in courses (that don't exist yet) flying airline simulato...

Re: TC to FAA licence conversion
I am studying for FAA ATP with Dauntless Software now. The cost is pretty small. Certain sections are identical. Others are much different (eg % MAC), some performance questions, and all the part 121 and 135 specific rules. The CPL prep material is not enough (maybe 30% at most). If cost is really a...

Re: TC to FAA licence conversion
I recently took FAA CPL written and used Dauntless Software "Ground School". I used the same vendors for Transport Canada INRAT, PSTAR, etc. I use it on my iOS devices. They have a website where you can upload results if you want to show an instructor your performance. I scored 97/100 on the FAA CPL...

Re: IFR SOP
No, but I do have personal minimums. I never heard of a personal SOP, but the personal minimums mantra is driven hard in some quarters.

Re: Getting licensed in Canada and working internationally?
--- snip --- Just my 2 cents. The next poster will probably say something completely opposite. --- snip --- Yeah, totally the opposite of what he said! ...just kidding. I am from the US and earned my CPL in Canada (long story). There is a special agreement between the US and Canada to convert licen...

Re: CAR similar to FAR 61.41, crediting ICAO training hours
---snip--- PS Rather than switching training mid-stream, it is MUCH easier to convert, once you hold a certificate. ---snip--- First, thanks again for the input, I will just resubmit in BC if I am rejected in MB. Second, in a sense it is spilt milk. I already spent a lot of money training in Canada...

Re: CAR similar to FAR 61.41, crediting ICAO training hours
That is great input. I am not sure how I can change venues though as I already submitted everything to the Winnipeg office. I will pm him and try to speak with that rep. Maybe he has some ideas or something. Yeah, that is the danger with leaving things up to all powerful bureaucracies. As a US citiz...

Re: CAR similar to FAR 61.41, crediting ICAO training hours
---snip--- With two exceptions, regular Authorized Persons canot do this, it has to go through TC. ---snip--- During my checkride with the examiner, he mentioned that. He said only TC can validate my foreign hours, or hours at other schools. This was also mentioned by the senior instructor who did ...

Re: CAR similar to FAR 61.41, crediting ICAO training hours
---snip--- ... Don't be surprised if you are in a different region and get a totally different answer... ---snip---. That was my fear. I have over 450 hours, over 100 hours dual after my PPL, but the vast majority is in the US. I took my TC CPL check ride on 29 December and was signed off. Yesterda...

CAR similar to FAR 61.41, crediting ICAO training hours
I tried to look through the CARS, but I can't find anything similar to FAR 61.41 allowing pilots to credit ICAO training hours toward the minimum experience requirements for Transport Canada certificates. I can't find anything saying the training has to be in Canada either. Here is FAR 61.41§61.41 F...

Re: $425 for a 30 min intro flight?
... Clearly is is just limited to the one company... Not hardly. You need to call different schools and get the full price for the training, and then the intro should be discounted off the normal training rate. When I compared rates for my son, I looked schools across Canada. A 5% variation was no ...
