Betterborders.ca Campaign For Rapid Testing

Covid-19 has created many challenges for the airlines. With so many carriers relying on international traffic and tourists, the 14 day quarantine is one of the biggest challenges. Unfortunately for us, until the 14 day border quarantine policy changes, most of the largest airlines will probably have...

Re: Cold Weather Corrected Missed Approach Altitude

The Missed Approach Altitude is an AT constraint, therefore in a radar environment flying to a corrected Missed Approach Altitude could result in a loss of separation and should not be done. In an emergency and/or loss of comms the terrain clearance takes precedence so have the corrected altitude a...

Sunwing Expands Cadet Program to MRU

Sunwing Airlines has expanded its cadet program to include MRU. Nice to see Sunwing expanding its program out of Ontario and into Western Canada. Definitely a great opportunity for those students in the program! Wish the industry's was in a similar place back when I was doing my flight training. Mou...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?

The biggest questions are how old are you and how badly do you want to be an Air Canada pilot. If you're 30+ and really want to fly for big red, go to Jazz. The flow agreement is worth any negatives that Jazz might have. If you don't really care about whether or not you end up at AC I would recommen...

Re: Think carefully before you make your next move

Just a reminder for the Jazz guys/gals.... By 2025 every single major airline in the country with the exception of Air Canada will have gone through a round of collective bargaining which means almost every single major pilot group will have had the opportunity to push the bar higher before you have...

Re: Think carefully before you make your next move

I guess we would all have jobs at Sky Regional! With DOH... Sweet deal! This pretty much sums it up and is why I don't understand why so many Jazz folks on this thread are panicked by a no vote. This TA is proof that AC can't even transfer 12 RJs from Georgian to Jazz without transferring the pilot...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

Simple. A 1500 hour instructor/float pilot/Navaho driver has the qualifications to move on to Air Canada or an airline overseas after a year of employment however a 250 hour cadet is pretty much guaranteed to remain at the airline for three to four years before they have the qualifications to move o...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

No word on what they're doing with those of us that were pooled from December 2017 interviews? I hear some reference checks have been completed for some. I suppose 10 July will be the tell all, if 23 July is the start date. Fingers crossed. The silence is killing us! Apparently by now everyone that...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

I think the devil's in the details on this one. I have yet to see any piece of communication that Westjet pilots will be flying Swoop aircraft at Westjet wages. Given this whole thing kicked off because Westjet wanted pilots to take 2 year leaves of absences to go fly for Swoop making next to nothin...

As a quick update, latest I've heard through the grapevine is hiring is now complete for the summer season. Expect more groundschools in early summer for the 2018/19 winter season.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

Is commuting possible at Sunwing? I know they have seasonal bases during the winter but what about the summer? Commuting is definitely possible at Sunwing and quite a few of our pilots do it successfully. Sunwing has jumpseat travel agreements with a number of airlines including Westjet and Air Can...

Re: Sunwing Q400's?

The only thing Sunwing is getting from Bombardier is the VP Flight Ops ... via Porter  I think that was probably the gist of the original slightly cryptic post. Is RH retiring? Not yet but he wants to fly the line for a few more years before he does. Sunwing's been looking for a new VP since t...

Air Transat and Thomas Cook Sign 7 Year Aircraft Exchange Agreement

Looks like Transat has taken a page out of Sunwing's book to swap aircraft back and forth across the Atlantic with a long-term European partner. Good to see as it appears to be a well thought out approach that should help Transat right-size its fleet and remain a healthy competitor in the Canadian m...

Re: SUNWING

In a nutshell: if the Canadian government again allows 80 foreign pilots to come and fly for Sunwing next winter, there are 80 Canadian pilots who will not be getting a job they deserve. But Sunwing will save money. TUI, its European parent company will save money. The Canadian worker gets screwed....

What the Europeans do not allow is Canadian pilots in Europe flying point to point in European aircraft. So why should we ? Because it tilts the advantage towards Canadian pilots at seniority based companies instead of created siloed flying that disadvantages Canadian pilots and offers greater over...

In unity, your comrade, Felix Apparently you may be one of the subscribers to the notion that employers should be able to use pilot pay as a competitive tool. Hopefully you and people that think like you will remain in the minority. It would certainly appear that the majority of the WJ pilots are a...
