Re: Any reason why you are a AME or want to be one!

I work with about 15 other AME's, and I would say that only about two of them wish they were doing something else. For sure we all have complaints, but over all, I think most of us are happy. We have good pay, no shift work, and not a lot of pressure. I have seen the other side of it: crap pay, shif...

Re: Any reason why you are a AME or want to be one!

Thinking back on how we used these products before WHIMIS info makes me shudder, but for me the best reason for being an AME is the smell of Jet Fuel exhaust on a cold winters day. for some reason its intoxicating I ,too, like the smell of jet exhaust. But have you ever noticed that PT-6's seem to ...

And I thought I was the only one that liked Mastinox on my toast! Have you tried a little Skydrol to pep up your coffee? Mmmmm, good.

Re: To all Experianced AME

FWIW, my own personal observations: AME 'E's seem to be in great demand and can go just about anywhere they want. I have a friend who is an E, works in Papua New Guinea, makes a huge amount of money. The trade-off is that he is away from home half the year as he does rotations, and spends a huge amo...

My wife is the administrator of an online forum, and she would have banned Strega long ago. It's time for the administrator of this forum to step up to the plate.

Re: Weekend Annuals.

You are just trying to throw a smoke screen. We all still think you have an attitude problem and you can take your smug nonsense to a different forum, we have zero use for you here. I don't care what others have posted. The above poster was wrong...who cares? He admitted so. You however are still a ...

I think that it is time for Strega to go troll pilots for awhile and leave us AMEs (and PE's) in peace.

Re: Weekend Annuals.

So you are saying that no university courses are offered online? Just Aircraft maintenance programs? ummm,, no? Dont know where I wrote anything to this effect... Fair enough, then what was your intent by stating you can become an AME by not stepping into a classroom? Because nobody besides you bro...

[quote Just got my M1 last year. Did ICS, 48 months experience in the hangar, logbook filled out, 3 technical exams and CARs exam. Never stepped inside a classroom.[/quote] It seems that I was wrong, at least about an M licence. However, to my knowledge, you can no longer get an S licence without a ...

As Troubleshot said, this is a basic course and there is no credit given for it. So no, you cannot become an AME without stepping into a classroom.
Wanna bet?
Prove it.

BTW, Why do you have such a hate-on for AME's?

In the past, yes. In fact I am one of them.but not anymore. You must complete a course at an ATO.

Yes.. go look up the list of ATOs... There is one that doesn't involve a classroom... (unless its been changed recently)
If there is indeed such a place, which I doubt, provide a link.

Thanks CID... Its clear you have a lot more patience than I do... "You obviously have no idea of the process to become an AME if you think you never have to set foot in a classroom." Its clear to me you dont... you can be an AME in Canada without ever setting foot in a classroom. I know several exa...

Re: Weekend Annuals.

Actually, an AME has everything to do with the 3 types of data, as he is the guy who has to find the appropriate repair and then implement it. And while AC43-13 is acceptable data for spam cans, don't try to use it for a Boeing. So when some dope smokin rampie runs the tug into the side of the Boei...
