Re: Looks like Porter is trying to poach Jazz EMB Capts
It would certainly benefit them. An air canada pilot suggesting the benefits of a union. Lol that’s rich. It seems a lot of this forum involves throwing stones from glass houses. Perhaps there is a reason why the Porter group hasn’t seriously pushed for a union in its 16 years? Those I know at Port...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29
There will be a lot of COPE in these threads by pilots who left Porter 17/18’. The salt has already been apparent throughout this pandemic. I think this is excellent news, great for Canadian aviation as a whole! Where would they have gone that they would now regret not sticking around 5 years to fl...

Re: Airlines need to shut down to survive
I'd be worried if I worked at a vacation charter company. Or Porter. As for Air Canada with allegedly 7 billion in liquidity (mind you yes, I realize even this will go away quickly) is in a much better position to weather the storm. I'd throw WestJet in there as well give the financial backing of O...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29
Porter is used to flying next to empty planes, gotta start something soon. I can't believe they aren't doing YYZ-YUL/YOW at least. A couple flights a day. You have to regain consumer confidence if you want them to come and that takes spending some money. If I was making Thanksgiving plans I'd be bo...

Re: Legal age to drink on international flight
I'd imagine it's based on the jurisdiction of the Carriers origin. As AC is Canadian It will probably be 19+.

I would go with groundspeed exactly for the reason you stated.

Re: Missing north of Peterborough
Also odd that Capt. Jean Houde from JRCC Trenton is spouting this BS (unless the Toronto Star is misquoting him, which is entirely possible): "Regulations stipulate that if a pilot is flying further than 25 nautical miles (50 km) from their departure point, they must file a flight plan with NAV Can...

Re: HSI in c172
If I were considering putting an HSI in a 172, I would definitely have a look at Aspen Avionics . I have never used one of their systems, but it looks like exactly the right kind of thing for a 172, and probably about the same cost as a traditional HSI. I think Sault College has installed them in t...
