Re: Conair Career Advice

Conair does have some positions based in Alberta that provide 10 days free from duty, including transit to YXX provided by the company. As for requirements for attaining a position, it appears float experience is becoming a concern in flight operations, as the Fireboss is a growing fleet. Saying tha...

Air Canada is certainly not the pinnacle of customer service in the Canadian aviation industry. Nor do they exude financial responsibility and ability to change. As far as equipment, yes, Air Canada has a fleet of nice aircraft. Pinnacle of white collar aviation? Blue collar? How about the pinnacle ...

XS Bank,

RE: 39 Pilots Fired

Care to elaborate about the 49er's, actually 51 pilots fired? You say it was entirely random, or were these pilots strong voices in the labour dispute?

Take a look at the growth forecasts from Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce, etc. You'll conclude there is a lot of opportunity over the next 20 years, with the strongest growth being in the Asia Pacific region. Cathay is very well placed, and they have never laid a pilot off in 60 years of operations; how...

Does anyboy know if there is any TPC regulation regarding required "stamps" and/or "signatures" for a verification of a pilot log book entry? I understand this is common practice, but is there a law?

Sawtooth Fire

Looks like the DC10 retardant bomber is finally on a real mission. The California State put the tanker on a daily contract a few days ago. Hopefully some pictures will show up soon. Will the boys get low enough to put the red stuff in the right place? Sounds like the pilots flying have very little "...

Is flying for the MNR or another agency flying water bombers considered employment in the aviation industry? No layoffs after 9/11, budgets don't get pulled in an economic slowdown, just food for thought.

More fire fighting here in BC again on Wednesday. An 802 airtanker crashed at Kamloops just after 5pm. The aircraft lost power and didn't quite make the runway, the pilot is untouched, but the aircraft was severely damaged. Let's all be safe out there!

The action is on in BC and Alberta. Fires are everywhere. But with good comes bad. One of Conair's 690's was damaged by large hail on Tuesday, grounding the aircraft. The aircraft has large dents and a cracked windscreen. The Alberta 690's are not having good luck this year!

The pilot of the Turbo Commander 690 did a go-around, he forgot the gear on the second attempt, did a perfect landing as the props didn't even hit the ground. This isn't the first time a pilot has landed gear up after a go-around. It's a sucker hole, especially single pilot.

Good job flying through a hail storm? Hail is associated with CB's so what were they doing that close and or in a CB in the first place? Wx radar not working? I was pretty sure that hail could be found more than 150nm from an actual CB that produces the signature 'anvil' top. Thank you TFE731, I ha...
