Re: AIP is dogshit
If all you see if wages, I guess you might be disappointed. If you understand this contract was more about Scope, the number one thing in almost every contract, you might see things differently.

Re: AIP is dogshit
The cash savings plan offered by the company is a loan, and would be illegal if offered by a bank. OLD ESP plan $100 pay, you put in $20 (%20), the company matched $20 for an affective rate of $120. (the $40 was invested in WJA stock). CSP plan $100 pay, you loan the company $20 dollars, the company...

Re: AIP is dogshit
I will agree with the sentiment above, you need to see the whole doucment before voting "no". If you read every single North American contract the #1 item is always scope. Without scope you can be paid the best wages in the world, only to see them "swooped" away by an alter ego carrier. From what I ...

Re: Recruiting Video
The reality is that pilot costs are a very small percentage of overall operating cost, and will never make or break an airline regardless of how much management might claim otherwise. However, bad management decisions, continually fighting with your employees, and neglecting the customer will bankru...

Re: Smaller Westjet vs Pay Pilots
Why would anybody actually want a full on strike.. has there ever been a good outcome for a pilot group after a strike? every single gain the American carriers have got has come at the negotiating table. Sure, they might have a strike vote, but its a lever, just like what ever the CEO says its all p...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
I'm not here to argue for against vaccines, because it doesn't matter. I don't honestly care what you think and to be honest you don't really care what I think. But here's the thing, the majority of society believes that vaccines and vaccines passports or some proof of immunization is a way to preve...

Re: More WJ layoffs
There is no deal, it done. There will be 415 less pilots come April, plus countless reductions, bases changes etc. For those thinking this is simply posturing by the company or the union, its not. Eventually a plan is made and you have to live with the decisions that either side made. Its disappoint...

Red1, We sure did.. but also created a significant amount of commuting (senior FO's west to east losing pay for hotels and or crash pads) and loss of position at lower wages. Some folk took losses of up to 70%..They could have made more staying home being with their families making same if not more...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
Not a pilot, but part of an employee group that is extremely busy taking care of the Jets while they are not flying. Here's to hoping other departments do not have to lose more people now that 1000 of you are saved! No need to be concerned about that, the company comes out ahead in this deal.... as...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
I blame everyone and no one. In any negotiations there are always two sides, and three stories. Only hindsight will allow us to look back and determine if the MEC/NC was willing to give enough or if the company was willing to negotiate at all. Could lay-off mitigations prevent the layoff of some of ...

Re: Coronavirus Numbers
lets move away from the fear, and make fact based decisions. One of every five New York City residents tested positive for antibodies to the coronavirus, according to preliminary results described by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Thursday that suggested that the virus had spread far more widely than known...

I agree with Stratopaused ... the Encore MEC did exactly what any MEC should do right now...try and protect jobs. In fact its what the mainline MEC should be trying to do as well .. what the hell is the point of laying off 1700 pilots, when you could have easily cut that number in half or a third by...

funny they went with the max as Indigo purchased over 400 Neo's a few years back. I imagine right about now they might be changing their minds... MAX not back until summer now. If they still are backed by Indigo it may be an excellent time to make the move away from Boeing. According to Wiki, Indig...

I would take the opposite view. Onex is well funded company and according to BNN has grown most of their companies with a long term vision of making them more profitable.
