I think a guy with 250 hours can be trained into a very good FO, it’s done all the time in Europe. For a few years, I had the pleasure of flying in the UK with low time guys and they were superb! Lots of experience or lots of schooling.... both systems work. But, I do think there should be an age li...

the 727s will be going going gone by regulation sooner than later. KFc will be forced into another type, only a mixed fleet will satisfy their needs. 767 / 757 / 737-300.

I believe one of the new programs I saw said it had just undergone maintenance at the previous base. My bets are on a fuel leak which only ignited after landing due to the lack cooling air over a hot engine.

Just speculation of course.

http://www.aerodev.co.uk/ozone.html To conserve fuel whenever practicable, and to limit cost increases resulting from world-wide increases in oil prices, passenger aircraft are now flying at higher altitudes than previously. This frequently takes them into the ozone-containing layer of the atmosphe...

. The one thing that AC could do to lower it's training budget would be to implement a status pay system. As it is now, people are jumping from one type to the next at the earliest opportunity in order to make more $$$. This includes many of the first group that got on the ERJ. How many of them hav...

Speaking of costs, don’t forget its all new hires flying the ERJ. FOs start at 36000 ish for unlimited flying for two years. I don’t think Jazz would be more cost effective. And, it 500$ a day makes or breaks an aircrafts daily profitability, then it isn’t going to survive anyways. Just my opinion.

Wear a shirt and tie the first day. Then decide!

Always better to dress up than to dress down!

And, if your a professional, dress like one. Of course a professional attitude is not just about looks, but it's an important part of first impressions.

Just out of curiosity, can Air Canada (mainline) pilots have a flying job on the side, whether it be as an employee, contractor, or self employed? Yes, many. I have quite a few AC pilots friends with other flying jobs or other types of employment. There is a procedure to get permission to fly elsew...

Hours mean nothing. You have to be able to check the boxes. Glass, university, visible minority, PIC time, heavy time, military, … the more boxes you check, the higher your chances of getting in are.

If you want to know what the boxes really are just go and do an online application.
