Embraers and Sky Regional
Just wondering if anyone knows how long Sky Regional's contract is with Air Canada and whether the Embraers are on lease by Air Canada and Sub leased to Sky or if they are owned by Air Canada and leased to Sky.
Thanks
Thanks

What are people's thoughts on Eagle/Envoy turning this down. Is American bluffing are they really gonna be able to find an operator to do that much work?

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
Be careful Bede I might start a thread discussing correlation of flight hours with skill level and and accident rate. I believe there are many factors which contribute to an accident. Just because Sully had 20,000 hours doesn't mean that incident would of played out the same if it was a different 20...

Correlation between pilot pay and Safety/Professionalism
For some reason people like to label the lower wage operators as the ones who are unsafe, or have less experienced, less safe less professional pilots.
Debate
Is there a direct correlation between pilot wages and professionalism/safety/pilot skill level?

Re: Georgian RJ's
Unspecified in the announcement, however, is that these routes are currently being flown by Jazz under the Air Canada Express banner and that Air Canada is seeking a new partner to fly them. They are not routes flown by Air Canada’s mainline fleet, confirmed Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick. L...

Re: Georgian RJ's
Has Air Canada publicly stated that Jazz is losing US routes?
I don't think they have.
The press release on their website says "additional transborder routes"
The only thing they have publicly stated about jazz is they would not be allowed to bid on the RFP.

Pilot Shortage and Statistics
Rumors float around about pending pilot shortages. Can anyone post a link to how many ATPL and Commercial flight crew licences are active in Canada? Also Rumors always floating around about people losing interest in becoming pilots. Anyone have any stats on how many licences have been issued every y...

Re: The "outlook" of our company..
Be carefull trailerpark boy I started a thread regarding chorus creating a leisure regional airline to bid on Air Canada US routes and it was shut down. It is a valid hypothesis and debate. ACPA was forced into a B scale with rouge. So the debate is ..... Lose the opportunity for additional work to ...

Re: Crew screening
Anyone who gives grief to a CATSA worker for doing their job is just plain ignorant. They don't make the rules they just follow them. Making minimum wage is bad enough but dealing with rude flight crews who take their anger of the system out on them is ridiculous. Please show them the same respect t...

Good on the GGN negots team for saying NO to this BS! We all need to stand up to this kind of garbage. SR pilots ARE YOU LISTENING!!! Actually our negotiators had nothing to do with it. They are pure pro-management and the transparency of that is startling. We the pilots stood up against this insul...

Re: Chorus to Start "Leisure Regional Airline" Bid on AC US
Their prime goal has always been to shovel profit out the door as that is what the airline was set up for in the first place. Hopefully reality has hit them now to a point were strategic moves to hold on to the business they have might be necessary. This could involve starting up another airline to ...

Rudder, You seem to be pretty knowledgable. If you were part of ACPA/ALPA leadrship(maybe you are) what would you do? What would be your game plan? 1. Start talking to each other 2. Start talking to the ultimate corporate decision maker. 3. Develop a strategic plan that creates better outcomes for ...

Re: Air Canada outsourcing US Regional
There's just one problem with Air Canada's thinking, they're assuming there will be regional pilots in the states to take Canadian flying. All those guys forced to go to 65 because the robber barons stole their pensions are starting to retire. The aggregate age of the pilots flying for the majors i...

Isn't jazz close to those minimums?
if AC subbed out any of Jazz 's current work wouldnt they have to give them more flying to make up for the flying They lose?

Wasn't it the ACPA leadership that allowed sky Regional to start up in the first place in order to save air Canada money in their regional ops side if things so they could afford to expand their international ops?

No. However I understand the sensitivity to it. I didn't say much for that very reason. Hopefully, and I say this respectfully, you guys handle this challenge better than ACPA. The answer is not to try to "handle the challenge" in isolation. The strategy that will best serve both parties (ALPA/ACPA...

Re: Another slap in the face
So very true, in a way. but I think the overriding issue is how do you transfer the risk to save the bottom line at AC. It always seems to be the pension payments that bites the hardest. Both Ontario Teachers and Omers seem to be in distress now, how long before they succumb to reform? My wife is i...
