Re: Going out with a bang.

Sure, the company gets banned, but how many former employees will be hired by the new handling company since they have experience? What kind of protections will the new company have to stop those experienced workers from slipping back into the bad habits that caused all the damage in the first place?

Re: Canadian Air Force

I don't know of any fighter jet pilots in the canadian military to achieve 5000 hours of flying, like some of you said previously most end up behind a desk, The military training is a very structured one even, the flight instructures are not given much freedom with the students, unlike flight train...

Re: Lynx and Flair to merge, AC to buy both

Ric Flair and airplanes aren't really a good fit and would probably be a PR nightmare. But that does seem to be a recurring theme with Flair Airlines so maybe they are a match made in Hell.

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

Stupid answer: Not sure. Stupid guess: Some manufacturers don't dive too deep into the small details on anything that the legal department doesn't flag while bringing a new aircraft to market. And the things that are flagged are usually due to prior crash investigations and/or lawsuits. Here's my gu...

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

After de-ice/anti-ice is completed, when does Embraer suggest the flaps be lowered, the trim set to take-off and the flight control checks performed? Is it part of the de-ice procedure or the before take-off checks?

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

The HOT charts for flaps/slats extended can be found in Appendix A of the Transport Canada Holdover Time (HOT) Guidelines. On page A-1 there is a note that states: These tables are for use when flaps/slats are deployed prior to de/anti-icing. Holdover and allowance times have been adjusted to 76 per...

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

Of these different types, did the De-icing/Anti-Icing Spray checklist, which I take was a company-specific document, differ from what the manufacturer published in the AFM, ORM/AOM or QRH? (To be fair, those manufacturer materials can be a bit vague sometimes) How about this scenario? Nasty night in...

Take-off Configuration after Type 4

After spending some time in various de-icing facilities across the country recently, I've noticed something that seems to go against what I had thought was an industry standard. After receiving a Type 4 anti-ice treatment, some aircraft are being configured for take-off (slats/flaps deployed) as soo...

That was landing on runway 24L. The terminals always seem to kick up some good turbulence when the wind is out of the north-west like that.

Wasn't there a troll on here a while back that had the same story? 5000+ hours on a King Air and nobody would hire him because of his lack of contacts? Said networking was for chumps. Can't remember the name he used and couldn't be bothered to look.

I would say it is more along the line of thinking you are such a great candidate that everyone will want you and the offers will roll in. I know that because I am guilty of that as well, both early on in my career and later on too! You pump yourself up with the idea you would be perfect for them whe...

Re: YGK flights?

It probably will never happen as long as the VIA train exists and serves Kingston. Enroute time of 2+30 hours station to station for less cost is hard to beat any airline service that isn't subsidized in some way. And the city of Kingston has made it clear it has no interest in doing so. Pascan last...

Summary: A WestJet 737 taxiing for departure, on the Comox to Edmonton flight, clips the backend on a Hercules with the right wingtip, shearing off the winglet. No injuries and passengers eventually deplane, bussed to terminal and alternate arrangements made. Biggest issue that stands out for me, be...
