Re: IFR flight itinerary
TIL Flying 705 you can't close the IFR and fly on company note. You must always have either an IFR of VFR on file Not true. Happens everyday in the Sands. "YEG Center we have XYZ in sight, cancel the IFR please" "Would you like the alerting to remain open?" "Yes" "Call on the ground to close please...

Re: IFR flight itinerary
Cancel and Close flight plans are two different things but sometimes I hear on the radio "I'd like to close cancel and continue on a company note" If I'm not mistaken if you are leaving controlled the IFR is cancelled (alerting remains, but most times they clarify and say "would you like to keep the...

Re: Confederation College, Thunder Bay
1) 200 hours is not a strict limit, but don't expect much more than that. All the ratings will be completed within the 200 hours with your final flight time working towards CPL flight test standard. 2) Everyone always looks at this question like its your instructors responsibility to get you done. L...

Re: Why are the flight training school so arrogant?
I never had these problems with Brampton or Waterloo Wellington when I completed my IFR, and multi ratings. Brampton, I emailed the CFI said "I will be in town for a week can you get me done?" Got paired up with a flexible instructor and got me done in time even with a couple weather days. At Waterl...

Re: Flight duty time
17 hours 45 min is my guess,
Unless you have a split duty day, and assuming the duty day ends 15 min after engine shutdown at the end of the day.

Re: Q400 Prop Blades
Seen a Porter flight get held up once when a passenger, who was a pilot with a 703 operator, noticed a crack on the prop. So the pilot came out and we all took a close look and sure enough a crack at the aft root area of the prop. Then to our surprise every blade had that same crack. Quick call to m...

Re: Pearson UPX Train Service
I don't think the UPX was built to connect YTZ to YYZ. The idea is that to hitch a ride on the UPX for most people will require TTC or a taxi at the Union end of the line anyways. So the idea that UPX was not integrated into one of the services already existing (GO/TTC) just makes it a waist of what...

Pearson UPX Train Service
UPX Standard fare is $27.50, or $19 with a presto card, for a one way ride. You would think with all the money invested in this project they would have done their research. Maybe they have, however I can't wrap my head around this service not being an epic fail. Monthly pass for airport employee's i...

I have heard First Air will be taking over the KFC YQT-YWG run with the ATR. Will this mean we will see a First Air YQT Base open up with the ATR?

Re: i thought this was good
I think the real story that we should post is my one way cab ride in Thunder Bay costs about the same as my one way flight to Toronto (if you take the taxes and navcanada fees out). I have never really felt air fares are to expensive. It would be nice to have less direct taxes and subsidize all thos...

Re: WestJet deals for cell plans
Thunder Bay plans were unlimited talk text Canada wide, 6G data and 10 hours mobile tv $50/month or 45 if you had your own phone already. Not sure if you can still get this promo, but I plan to keep my 807 number until they force me to change my plan.

Re: Can this 'charter idea' be legal here in Canada
I would always feel you have to be careful if you want to double dip when selling a charter. Since the round trip is payed for if for some reason they change their plan and want to use the back haul flight/change departure times etc.

Re: Logbook question
I suppose the way to fix it is same way you would fix time errors in the aircraft journey log. Write out a line "total time correction from page x +-0.0" But if every page is a masterful disaster I am not sure if you can write one line to correct all errors. If you just start a second log you will h...

Re: Air Fares !!!
Air Fares are not something that can be rationalized by common sense, like distance/airline/aircraft type/weight. Don't try to over think it. My favorite is when a flight cancels and everyone rushes to the next airline to grab a ticket. First guy at the counter pays $150, and the next pays $275 for ...
