Well, it appears I have nothing to add here, trying to carry on a converstation with cpl_atc. I'm outta here before Christmas after 38 years and some months in the business. I'm outta this forum too. Either way, I'm sure I'll be missed - Have at'er lads. I hope you can be more civil to people...

Balls, with WX around a clearence to deviate isn't a nicety, its going to save your life - if you fly big iron in congested airspace anyway. If you're deviating, chances are everyone is deviating and most likely going for the same hole. Tell ATC after the fact in busy airspace and I guarantee you'l...

Hmm...seems pretty hard to please the cpl-atc guy. Sorry it's such a touchy subject, and appears hard to discuss without emotion. Why so? SLOP. No clearance required. Wxx deviation, a clearance is a nicety, not a requirement. I tell you what I'm doing, and we come to an agreement. Emergency of any k...

Re: COURSE CHANGE REQUIRES A CLEARANCE

Anyone who holds an IFR rating should be well aware of the fact that any change to your course in controlled airspace requires a clearance. This applies equally to ANY change in course, be it to an approach waypoint at your destination, or to a different destination altogether. An airport-to-airpor...

Balls I understand your point about chain of command and agree with it fully as I'm sure most people here who deal with that sort of thing do. But the apparent co-authority given to the I/C by the CAR's regarding seat belt usage by the passengers is, I think, appropriate. It gives authority to the ...

I suppose everything is open to interpretation but I don't get the same impression from that regulation. When I read that, it doesn't say to me that the incharge can override the captain, only that either the captain or the incharge can make people put on their seatbelts. Of if you want to look at ...

Re: TC - laws, regs, PPCs and Changes

If there were laws and regs you wanted changed or created, what would you tell Transport Canada? Back to the question at hand, I would pick on an itsy, bitsy little one, 605.26(1)(b), that states, Where the pilot-in-command or the in-charge flight attendant directs that safety belts be fastened, ev...

Thanks for the input guys - no decision made yet though.... :? Don't worry about rushing into any moves for the first two years, so that is probably 2, maybe 3, bids down the road for you. You have a year or more to make a decision of any sort. You have a decade or two or three ahead of you. Pick h...

balls, I think you're overreacting here about the "sneaking down" thing. First of all, I have no clue how hard Nakina had to try to get into YFH the other day. There may have been 600' ceilings for a time, who knows? Either way, the boys from Nakina, like most of us that go to YFH twice a day, know...

Balls, I have no problem with your post as it only makes common sense to bring Canada to at least the level of Africa for regulatory oversite and workable rules. At least in Africa there is a reason for political corruption. But can you address my question as to what all this has to do with Nakina ...

You don't have enough regs. now??????????????????????????? Dec 1. New vis regs. Can't happen soon enough. This is way past due. It is still not enough, but a step in the right direction. The onus should not be on the pilot to be pressed to do an approach when the weather is know to be below minimum...

The very best way to see wing tip vortices is looking back at your spray pattern as you pull up and start the turn on a calm morning when you are flying a Stearman spraying a tobacco field. OR, look at the water on approach to the 08's in YVR, and see the vortices settling onto the bay. You can see...

I personally would think that it's jetblast doing all of what's been discribed. I can't believe that the vorticies would be strong enough. Vortices are a function of wing loading. Takeoff, there are no significant vortices until rotaion. Flying an approach heavy, slow, clean (or little flap vs more...

Thanks
It already is an Embraer base. Chances are that it will expand as one on the next bid. Shortly (according to AC's recent comments) we will see the new bid and the tale will be told.

Sure you can... Seniority is everything though. There are a number of people named and numbered on the ACPA Seniority List (the company does not "own" the list) in the past many months, that were still at Jazz, and accruing AC mainline seniority. Some of them probably have still not arrived here, e...

Do the rumours of a reduction bid have any foundation? Any chance the current hiring spree could slow or stop in the short term? Even when the bid was published, it was mentioned that the horizon was further forward than previous bids. The 777 will be a bottleneck, that is plain to see right now. My bet is that for some major glitches crewing those arrivals next summer. There needs to be bodies at the bottom to allow everyone...
