Re: And still, CBSA agents are exempt from security screenin
Does a RAIC pass do anything these days when your travelling? You guys all know that no matter the airport of issue of a RAIC, it entitles you to take the NEXUS or Priority Line to get to the front at any airport in Canada that has them, right? I mean you still have to be screened, but it sure beat...

Just an update: 3 month delay in processing renewals. The delay is in Ottawa, not the local office. Get your renewal paperwork in early!

Re: First Air Crash Resolute Bay August 20 2011
As someone who flies on First Air regularly, I dismissed any concerns about continuing to fly with them as I was fairly certain that the crash had nothing significant to do with the boys in the cockpit or the guys in the hangar. I too agreed with the speculation of serious outside meddling by the mi...

Re: On holding more than one license...
If you read the back of your licence M1 or M2 "include ...structures..." FWIW So possibilities: M1 M2 M1/M2 M1/E M2/E S ???? But really, as an M1/M2 one can not do specialized avionics or structural work unless approved by the AMO. The regs allow it sure, but unless you are qualified under the AMO i...

Re: What is a typical time to gain an AME license?
It really depends on the region and individual inspector (who's kingdom you are in and which minion you get). I got both M1 and M2 at the same time by presenting two log books with entries happening over the same time frame. A big thing to note it is 70% of applicable tasks. Being in helicopters is ...

Re: AME Licence Renewal
Yeah, I can see that being a whole lot more efficient than just walking in to the office and getting all of it done in half an hour or less. I love this generation. Always got to reach for a gadget. :P Well if the older generation likes to dive 5 hours round trip on their time off to go ...

Re: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category 'M' BCIT
I graduated from the BCIT AME-M program in 2006. So my info may be out of date but here you go: 1. Instructors were mostly those that were 5 to 10 years away from retirement. This was great for passing on experience but also there was a flip side of not being so up to date on the state of the curren...

Re: AME Licence Renewal
OK: I called. Here is how to do it electronically: 1. Prepare a picture and name it according to the following instructions: "Digital photographs should be in jpg format, head only, square, no larger than 300 pixels in either direction and in full color (24 bit). The AME must ensure that his or her ...

Re: AME Licence Renewal
Thanks for the links. I downloaded the form and was on that page last night already. You can see how they do not actually really say how to renew your license and what parts of the form need to be filled out. I guess I will call the nearest office. The form does not say what sections are required fo...

AME Licence Renewal
Has anyone been able to submit their form and photo via email? I will call the office in the morning and ask for details as there is typical TC vagueness and no details on their website about actually how to renew and what is actually required. God forbid they have a simple form with instructions in...

I have a soft sided tool bag made by Custom Leather Craft (CLC) http://www.goclc.com/products/Work-Gear-Softside-Tool-Carriers-Bags-Backpacks I found mine at KMS tools. Get one that keeps everything secure and zipped up. Obviously avoid the electrician style open top ones I bought a cheap $40 four w...
