Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
I think you might find the highest paid Union leaders and Local Representatives in Canada are the MEC and LEC ChaIrs Full time flight release for those in ACPA plus add ons. Unless something has changed ALPA only has the MEC Chairman on a full time release. So getting ACPA "leadership" to move towar...

Re: Is it true?
I am not privy to Ms. Clegg's motives but I am sure money is a big one. Clegg has always confused personality conflicts with harassment, I was there when she was first hired at Canadian and she always felt hard done by. Subsequent years she may have had a hard time with some Captains but any of us w...

Re: Air Transat YOW
Large fines will be levied for violations. To whom? The crew, the company or the passenger? This was over 10 years ago a Captain was fined $5,000.00 for leaving the aircraft on a turn while bonded. And many heavy fines for the Company as for an individual you can always be incarcerated. Testing the...

Re: Air Transat YOW
As unfortunate as this was, it is not the first nor will it be the last irrop diversion. Personally I spent over 6 hours on the ramp in YYB after AF crash in YYZ. We were one of 5 Airbus clogging the ramp and like Transit we were transborder requiring customs clearance to deplane. CBSA are very unfo...

Re: AC to start new loyalty plan
The root cause is the monetization during bankruptcy at AC. Who made the money, Robert Milton, Cerberus, GE Capital and more than a few foreign Banks. Likely Aeroplan should never had been spun off by the AC BOD and Milton, now the pendulum swings back to where is should have stayed in the first pla...

Re: WestJet to Purchase 787's
I see the Boeing announcement as a commitment, not a firm order. My question is a what is a commitment these days? Is it you can announce but money must be paid by X date or some other requirement.

Re: WestJet to Purchase 787's
The wording of the announcement is interesting. Boeing has not announced anything. Usually they are out on every social media site announcing an order like this. Confirmed orders are always announced, so why not this one...

Re: Sunwing scabs the industry even further.
I am quite sure Sunwing is not placing any money in to the MFA program. And I would bet it is not the same category as the Lufthansa Training program which is mostly paid for by Lufthansa. Just a question for any Jazz pilots, is there still a intake of similarly trained pilots directly from any Avia...

Re: Sunwing scabs the industry even further.
This is an interesting thread. Back in the 70's Air Canada as all the other airline took graduates from Selkirk and few other programs an hired them off the street. Now to get hired at CP they had to fly a DC-3 or a little later a 737 simulator. That program was the same for the 250 hour or 5000 hou...

The Company deals with the DC funds not individuals.
Re: RAIC use
Your RAIC is only to be used while you are ON DUTY. When you get off the aircraft at the end of your Duty period, end of your pairing or layover your off duty. That's the way security looks at your RAIC privileges So even though you might still be in secure area your RAIC privileges are suspended un...

Re: 2 Air Transat pilots charged with being impaired
The simple truth to flying in and out of the UK, any drinking on the layover must be kept to a minimum. The limits for crew members are very low. One could argue the limit is too low however the rules are clear and any pilot flying into any country should be aware of breaking the regulations could l...

Re: Westjet cover up: Alleged sexual assaults by pilot
For True North and others pilots are in general intelligent enough to understand most concepts and rules. However after 20 years as a Union rep. I have seen many pilots do some really dumb things. An old idea that BA had was to put the Captain in a separate hotel from the rest of the crew, that was ...

Re: Westjet cover up: Alleged sexual assaults by pilot
Photofly The Canadian Charter of Rights trumps all judgements. No company can tell any employee who or who not they can associate with with in reason. Any reasonable person would understand that humans are not loners. Any company that would require, no 2 employees can be together alone is ridiculous...

Re: Good Luck with that WJ......
My sister bought a couple of tickets at the 299 price then taxes on top the true cost $899.00. That fare is only available for a short period, then the non-promotional price. A 8 or 9 hour flight buying food on board another 25 bucks. And every other carrier has at least one meal and a snack provide...

Re: CanJet Operations Suspended Indefinitely
The Rowe family are the classic carpetbaggers. They are just moving on and not feeling any of effects of the decision to apruptly shut down. 24 hours notice of layoff is a joke, they chop all the pilots , now out looking for a paying position somewhere and likely Rowe padlocked the doors. Sad in thi...

Try this one, applied within the 90 days with all correct information…didn't get the application returned…good sign. Dec 18 enquired when I would receive my ADB, as it expires Jan.01. Inspector advises me the ADB was produced on Dec01, she advised me to wait a few days more. With Christmas, other ho...
