I don't believe there is any CAR for it, but I had my ATPL inspector ask me to sign every page, so I did.

Re: ATPL Question
Mr. Bond is correct. No one needs to certify your logbook, except you. There is a great misunderstanding pushed by the FTU's for some reason that CFI's or Chief Pilots need to sign your logbook. They do not. Ask them what CAR says you need to and they will always come up short

FO's are mid 30's and Capts are 63-64 ish to start if you don't meet contrails and 83ish to start if you do meet them. 18 days a month and pay not based on credit hours mean that most pilost burnout in 2 years. I figured out for Aug I am looking 97 credits worth of flying but since we aren't paid b...

Re: Flying Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and Jazz Air / Air Canada Express for the first time
Have you considered that Jazz has the 5th most number of incidents because it in the top 5 largest airlines in Canada? If you took your car out on the road once a year, the chances of having an accident are quite poor. If you drive 12 hours a day, every day, then yeah, things will happen. I do not w...

Honestly thought that was a simulator at first with the idle chatter in the background, the narrow view outside and a six pack of instruments on a single screen.
I can't believed he waited until the last second to pull the chute! It barely had time to slow him down!

Why do they clear people to land or takeoff when the runway is not actually clear? This is something about the American system that has always bothered me

Re: GIANT logbook mistakes!!!
Look up the CARs definition of xcty time. You'll soon realize that there isn't one. It's all up to interpretation. There is no minimum distance. My stance has been that you can log xcty if you can actually put a route in your logbook. If you are just going to the practice area, no. But if you are na...

The MNR still puts on an annual display at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
It takes place during their Bushplane Days festival or whatever. It's usually in September

So is there such thing as a bond with no money up front? How about those "training agreements" Where its says $10k for 2 years, but advertise as no money up front. No money changes hands, but if you leave early they will come after you. Is this type of thing more acceptable? Is it still a "bond"? L...

Re: Loaning your employer money.
I'm curious what you guys think, I have basically had this conversation with a few colleagues of mine, and their opinion on the matter was that some people pay $10-$15 grand for an instructor rating, so what's the difference? They say that it's simply an investment into their own future. As a side n...

Re: IATRA required to fly a 604 registered aircraft?
And if it is a single pilot airplane flown two crew, does the FO log co-pilot time?
I'm currently flying 172's for areal patrol, which is obviously a single pilot machine, but the spotter can't log the flight time... Then again, the spotter isn't "flight crew"

Re: IATRA required to fly a 604 registered aircraft?
What if it is a single pilot airplane that is run two crew?
The rules for the type rating indicate that the airplane has to be minimum two crew, not flown two crew. So if a CPL were to go right seat on a PC12 for example, would he need the IATRA? Would the captain need ATPL?

Re: Exhaust De/Anti-Icing Question/Idea
To elaborate on what some other posters said, you have to keep in mind that bleed air is NOT exhaust air. In a jet engine, air is compressed and then fuel is added and then burned. Bleed air is only siphoned from the compression stage. As air is compressed it heats up. And quite dramatically too. Th...

The Aspen displays are amazing! Especially if you're going IFR. But if you're just a simple fly around, occasional VFR city hopper, I don't think it would be worth it, financially.
I flew the with the Aspen outfitted in the Sault College Zlins, PM me if you want more info about them

Primer In and Locked
Been reviewing my notes for an upcoming checkout in a 1976 Cessna 172M, and it reminded me of something I learned in my ppl years. The cause check for an engine failure in flight includes making sure the manual primer is in and locked. I remember being told that if it is unlocked, it could be a reas...

Re: Holding/Approach
A tip I picked up doing my training: if you are told to do a simple hold at the FAF, and the procedure turn is to he left, before accepting the hold, request left hand turns. ATC doesn't normally give a hoot, so then you're holding on the protected side. No need to cross
