Re: Think carefully before you make your next move

If you don’t understand how this works yet here’s a quick breakdown. People running the show who have great insight into business and investing exploit pilots’ lack of knowledge in economics and business to further their needs. Why do you think AC is shifting the flying from Georgian to Jazz? Is it ...

Re: Think carefully before you make your next move

I truly understand the pains associated with our starting salaries. They are atrocious. I started at $34k and $38k respectively in my first 2 years. They were very difficult with kids and a house to pay for. Just because I made such paltry wages doesn’t make it right for new hires to also make such...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

I think the more telling question is: Have you worked at Mainline? I'm not disputing that the LCC is a good gig, you are possibly portraying it in an even more optimistic light however. I have been at the LCC and there was no where near the amount of draft being claimed on here... They have taken s...

You’ll be on reserve for years and guarantee you’ll work 16 days.

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

Alright, alright let’s all take a deep breath! I’m not looking to start any arguments just speaking from experience. I can’t deny your facts there and appreciate you going through all the trouble of looking up the skeds of that many FOs. Can I ask if you are at Rouge or have ever been at Rouge? My J...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

Don’t know whether or not you’re at Rouge but I can speak from experience that there’s plenty of draft available. With the new contract, any “cold call” you get from crew sked to take a trip is automatically 2.5x. Also, pretty much every day I’ve listed myself for draft I’ve gotten a call. This is f...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

If you’re a new hire and you’re worried about the pay; I’d recommend Rouge. Especially the 67. Plenty of draft available and during the shoulder seasons you can work as little as 6-10 days depending on how you bid. 77.5 monthly guarantee and draft pays 2.5x. So you’re $59/hr is $147/hr on draft. The...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

I understand it’s frustrating guys... but if I can offer one piece of advice here it is: Air Canada doesn’t owe you anything. It’s a multi billion dollar corporation and at the end of the day they make decisions based on what’s best for the company. The original PML, which I was a part of, was imple...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

The biggest issue at AC I think is flat pay. If you bid the right seat of the 777 or 330 and get on formula right away it would be fine. Once you’re off flat pay you’re making $165,000 and working 9-12 days on reserve.. it’s not bad. The flat pay is archaic and needs to go. I agree you can make a lo...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019

Lots of movement. Most Junior left seat is around 3400 right now. Seniority list goes up to 3927+ Lots of cool seats open! YUL 330 FO is going junior, so is any right seat in YZ.

You're missing the point man. Your short-sightedness is scary.. Ya you might have a better job NOW for a few years... what about afterwards? Not everyone is going to get a job in Asia.

Re: Let's all apply at Swoop!

Funny how when my colleagues are able to further themselves at my expense, and the B scale is on my back, I am entitled and a complaining generation who does not deserve better. Then they would say I am a scab to apply for a job at swoop that pays twice my salary. Why not you do you and I do me? Ob...

Re: Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

I completely agree with you guys. I think the sooner the pilots in Canada are unionized under the same name the better off we'll be. Maybe we'll start putting pressure on our employers to start paying us like the US! The survey ACPA sent out was very vague and waaaay to wordy.. they could've made it...

Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

Hey everyone, Thought I'd throw this question out as it's somethng I've been pondering lately... What are your thoughts on ACPA joining ALPA? I have experince with ALPA from my time at Jazz and for the most part I'm satisfied with ALPA's representation. There are some things that I didn't like about...

Re: Boeing 767

I fly the 767 at Rouge and the pic is correct except there’s no “Ignition - AUTO” in the After Takeoff and no “Autobrakes” in the In Range checks. Also add “APU-On” after seat belts in the In Range.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Just want to throw my $0.02 in here... if your end goal is to make a career at mainline, id highly recommend going through an express regional such as Jazz. With the original PML close to exhausted and still much highering to do at AC, your odds from express are much much higher than ots. There's gu...
