Re: It's Time
So you've brought the goods and yet Porter is still around after your failed prediction 15+ years ago, why should anyone believe you? Looks like your daily posts are just "noise". Maybe not 15 years ago, but they nearly went out of business in 2018. From the lawsuit with Nieuport: https://www.canli...

This will be the true test of union vs non union environment... In my opinion, the true test of a union vs non-union environment is not what happens when things are good, but when things are bad. It's great when management throws raises at pilots during boom times, but as soon as things slow down t...

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
There is a major difference between a strike and a lockout, which is the effect on passenger compensation. In the event of a strike, the carrier is not on the hook to compensate for disruptions, as it's considered beyond their control in the same way as a weather event. However, a lockout is very cl...

Re: Flair launches one dollar base fares
Did any of you jokers proclaiming $1 fares as the death knell of Flair actually look into it at all? The only seats being offered for $1 base fare are the northbound flights from places like CUN during the first week or so of the season that Flair is operating there. Almost nobody is booking a retu...

Re: Skylink Express is done.
I don't understand why a purchase of 3 million barrels makes the news. The US consumes 21.6 million barrels of oil every day, so 3 million barrels of oil is about 2 hours and 45 minutes worth of fuel for that country. How does that make a material difference? I'm not an economics major and it's a g...

LoL. Only took the US gov draining their SPR to hold it down…anyway Bob, by your comments I’m putting you firmly in the “predicting no recession/ stagnation in coming years” , let’s see how your prediction ages. Well, you look pretty foolish: https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/us-buys-3-millio...

I don't know why you keep referencing Theranos and Holmes. Apples to Orange situations here. Because they existed solely by burning investors' money and making pie-in-the-sky promises that they could never keep. There was no chance their business model would ever be sustainable. Indeed. Theranos's ...

Re: Transat or Porter?
Thanks for the links. Definitely adds some more context but I still don't see mentioning of losing $40 million and I think a lot of that is conjecture/posturing from Porter Execs trying to paint a sob story so they could get off the hook for Neuport. You're right, they only lost $35 million....

Yea I only had to read the first sentence of that reposnse before I wasted my time reading the rest of that novel You think three paragraphs is a novel, and you find that too onerous to read? Whenever I’ve looked at LAX flights the loads have been great, but sure bud! SFO hasn’t been performing as well whenever I look at it. I know that city has major issues right now though. Again, that's anecdotal. The actual, hard, statistical data is available: https://www.lawa.org/-/medi...

Re: Transat or Porter?
The loads for the transborder flights are available from the US DOT. Porter's loads to LAX were actually worse than Lynx's, so that can't be a good portent. Here is the lawsuit between Porter and Neuport. Nowhere does it mention "losing $40 million a year" and from what I can see any claims of profi...

Re: Transat or Porter?
The sale leaseback is a way to raise capital, eg buy from embreaer for 40 mill, sell to lesser for 45 mill and lease back based on a 60 mill valuation on the aircraft. Port gets 5 million now when the business is extremely capital intensive in exchange for a higher total investment on the aircraft ...

Some of Porter's December load factors were posted on another forum. This is second-hand data, and I haven't seen the sources, so I can't vouch for the numbers. YYZ-FLL 80% YYZ-RSW 65% YYZ-MIA 63% YYZ-MCO 77% YYZ-TPA 62% YYZ-YYC 65% YYZ-YEG 61% YYZ-YHZ 58% YYZ-YUL 49% YYZ-YOW 32% YYZ-YYT 53% YYZ-YVR...

Re: Transat or Porter?
There's no way Porter is making money on sale-leasebacks; that's entirely speculation from people who think the Deluces are financial wizards and can make money appear out of thin air. Porter has to perform the sale-leasebacks because they don't have the cash to buy the planes themselves, and even l...

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
I don't think the issue is the CRA seizing assets. I think it's that money that's going to the CRA is being diverted from elsewhere, which means either someone isn't getting paid or bigger loans are being taken out. Based on Jones's evasion in the recent BNN interview, it's pretty clear that money i...

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits
The question you should be asking, is if going into a recession Porter, AC, and WestJet's business models can survive. AC is crown owned so they'll be fine. The less money people have to travel, the better the ULCC's will do. Think 1997 WestJet (when the population was only 30 Million) Wrong again:...

Financial documents reviewed by Semafor reveal tha...

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airlines/f8-fle/fleet This is an excellent, concise resource which raises a lot more questions that management will have trouble brushing off. Both NGs have been ferried to Tucson, FFLJ on Nov 5 and FFLC on Oct 11, so the latter has been out of service for a full ...

There's a reason Spirit is the first one to stop hiring, and it has nothing to do with the world imploding. It's because passengers are choosing to fly on legacy carriers instead of ULCCs: https://onemileatatime.com/insights/air-travel-demand-softening/ The consensus among legacy carriers is that de...

I believe the purpose of a first CBA as a sched airline... I don't understand why so many people qualify statements about Flair's operational performance or employment conditions with caveats based on the transition to being a scheduled operator, or even call them a "start-up". Flair is 18 years ol...

Re: BEWARE $30,000 BOND FOR 3 YRS
A 100k 1st year would change absolutely nothing. The driving factors are understandably long term job security and pension at AC along with fleet and pay ceiling. All this would do is waste money on people doing training or line indoc who might leave. Airlines traditionally have a very low 1st year...

Does the average person work 13-hour days? In those 22 days they work 176 hours, whereas the pilot who works 16 13-hour days works 208.accountant wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 8:33 pm Love how pilots complain about working 16 days a month when the average person works 22.
